Description of 1971 Datsun Z-Series |
You are bidding on a 1971 Datsun 240Z with a V8 motor and 4 speed automatic drivetrain. I acquired it this way while in New Jersey in 2011. I don't know much details about the car's history except the engine conversion was done in southern California by a professional car shop probably in the mid 90s. It was then sold to the previous owner where it resided and left abandoned in an NJ parking lot for at least 5 years. Since then I have gotten to know S30 cars pretty well. The chassis is in excellent condition for these types of cars. There is no significant rust damage and seems to have been maintained well through out it's life. Since I've owned it it's been kept in my garage mostly as a project car in South Carolina. All rubber (tires/hoses/gaskets) and fluids have been replaced and is in excellent driving condition. Since then I've replaced a water pump battery spark plugs and radiator. The after market A/C unit that was in the vehicle was not working so I just removed the A/C system entirely. Forthe last year I've slowly replaced all the torn/rotten interior upholstery personally. New seatupholstery plastic panels are refinished carpets are all new. Transmission tunnel and headliner was replaced with custom diamond stitch vinyl. The wiring was also cleaned up a little bit to get the important stuff working (hazards/signals/horn). Also done in order for me to get a new title. Since this was an abandoned vehicle I had keys made for the door locks however rigged the car with an internal battery cut-off switch and push button start ignition. The wood steering wheel varnish was so old I sprayed a new automotiveclear coat for a brand new durable finish. I also added the BRE style front air dammyself. As project cars come and go. the unfinished stuff I leave for the next owner to do what he wants with.Speedo- works but gear needs to be replaced in the transmission for speedo to be accurate.Tach- works but needs calibration (instructions provided)Fuel gauge- needs to be replaced (aftermarket gauge and sender provided)Fuel pressure gauge- notfunctioning (aftermarket voltmeter gauge provided as a replacement to the gauge pod).Door panels are in decent condition- extra matching diamond stitch vinyl provided.Radio slot left empty for the next owner's choosing (or bid on myheadunit/1000W amp/speaker package auction!)I am relocating once again and therefore want to lighten my load. Give me the right offer and I'll let go of it. |
