1951 Desoto Custom 4 Door SedanNo rust - body is in excellent condition. floors. rockers. inner rockers solid as a rock. light surface rust underneath car only. no rot. could not have been a Midwest car all it's lifeNewer two-tone vinyl interior (soft like ultra-leather) - very nice condition. nice cloth headliner. nice carpetPaint is nice driver quality with a few nicks here and there. /p>Chrome is average condition. nbsp; it has lost some of it's luster from prior polishing but is not heavily pitted"Fluid Drive" semi-automatic transmission - does not shift automatically. could be electric issue or mechanical. clutch and torque convertor work properlyBrakes in good condition . new hoses. master cylinder rebuild and new wheel cylinders several years ago. new front linings6 cylinder flat-head engine 250. 6 cubic inch displacement - needs a valve job. good oil pressure. starts easilyCar runs. drives. and stops. but is limited in speed and range by the engine and transmission issues stated above. Goes down the road easily at 35mph or so but needs the missing shift to go much faster or a long distanceTrue mileage unknown but assume it is probably just turned over 100. 00Tires have good tread but front pair and back pair different brand/tread. mileage and age unknownThis would make a nice minor project for a tinkerer. collector or father/son team. Expensive. hard stuff(paint and interior) is done. |
