Description of 1960 DeSoto Adventurer |
Here's an original paint 1960 Desoto Adventurer project car that is nearly complete and can be restored. Could also be used for some of the rare parts on it for a Chrysler 300 F or G project.Needs complete restoration. Colorado car, mainly rust free except trunk floor and rear deck lid lip. Came with some nice factory options:Power windows Speed control (cruise)Factory spotlightDual rear antennasDual mirrorsPower SteeringPower BrakesTinted Glass (Large Back Glass- 57 58 59 Chrysler/Desotos)Rear Defog383 4 bbl motor Factory blue seats were removed to inspect floors, found exceptionally nice floors still with original light blue paint (see pics). under rear carpet taped to floor was a factory attached sheet "Desoto Accessory Groups" see pic. Interior parts like seat foam, headliner, etc have been baked by the sun for decades and need replacement. Horn ring and some other parts were removed for cleaning and come with the car. even has a factory spotlight, the white plastic handle has come off. Original dash and wiring still connected, never out of car. Motor- has a 383 4bbl engine/automatic push button transmission. after lubricating the cylinders, changing the oil and hooking up a temporary line to a gas can, the motor fired and ran for about 1 minute. didn't smoke and sounded good. here's the problem, the radiator and all hoses have a bunch of crud in them. looks like its too much crud or we would have tried a cooling system flush. engine is good but needs to come out and get cleaned out. under hood is very complete and original, including speed control unit. original radiator included (not in pic). Body- A lot of original light blue paint with surface rust patina on the top areas and down the sides. originally came with a dark blue top. all trim in place, a few dents here and there. prior owner added some foglights, they are not in good condition. Back wheels are 60 desoto original, the fronts are not. Bottom of car except trunk floor is dry as a bone. rear frame BEHIND rear wheel still has factory light blue paint overspray (see pic). doors sag a bit from worn out hinges, rear driver door is stuck. Rear taillight lenses are broken. Has the Large back glass same as 57 58 59 Chryslers and Desotos (not firesweep). Rust- pretty limited on this car, rear 12 inches of trunk floor and deck lid lip have rust holes. most of trunk has scaly rust, you could put a tire and stuff back there no problem. both sides in front of rear tires have rust holes at end of rocker behind molding. rockers are solid, mainly original paint. rear driver quarter at back needs bottom patch of a few inches.(see pic) This car has a lot of potential whether you restore it or buy it for parts including lots of great sheetmetal. some of these options don't show up very often. also comes with a nice original replacement windshield. Car will be sold with a Colorado Bill of Sale. The fender tag and sheet found on the back floor are included. Car is sold in "as is" condition, no warranties either expressed or implied. will assist you or your transporter with loading the vehicle.
