Up for sale is my 1951 DeSoto DeLuxe S-15 Sedan. Delores is your quintessential barn-find treasure of an era gone by. She has 28,000 original miles and is still wearing her 70-year old hand-rubbed black lacquer paint and all the chrome.Under the hood is a flathead I-6 that was carefully brought back to life. It starts quick, idles silently, and runs great down the highway (at 65 mph). The transmission is a Tip-Toe Shift and it works exactly as it should. For those that aren't familiar it has a High, Low and Reverse on the column (clutch-shifted), but when accelerating, you let off of the gas briefly and the transmission will shift automagically into it's high gear. Back on the gas and away you go.The interior is the only non-original / restored part of Delores (thanks, mice!) - everything was stripped, the floor was undercoated before fresh carpet was installed. Seats were professionally reupholstered, all interior panel were rebuilt and upholstered, and a new headliner and trunk carpet were installed.Delores needs to find her forever home. While my wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed this car over the last five years, I no longer have the indoor parking that she deserves.Delivery is available.
