Description of 1958 DeSoto Fireflight |
1958 DeSoto, originally sold from a DeSoto Dealer in Stafford CT. The car found it's way to Montana where it spent the majority of it's life. It was last registered in Montana in July 1979. This car was purchased at the Hackenberger Auction in Ohio about 4 years ago. 700 cars were auctioned off by one collector. I had the top half of the car sanded and an Epoxy Primer coat applied to protect it from further rust. It has a lot of sunburnt paint. The windshield is broken, but a new 600 retail price Windshield is included in the price of the car. The drivers door window is shattered. I've not tried to start the car, If it doesn't sell at this auction, I work to get the car running. I soaked the engine in Marvel Mystery Oil a year ago. As of this listing, the engine turns freely and has not binding or rough spots, I can make it go for full rotations with only one hand. It has 80,120 miles. It comes with a State of Virginia Title. It's rare in that it's not originally a two tone paint job, it's one solid color, blue. It's sporting two side view mirrors both in very nice shape. The interior is sun dried for the headliner and seats. The door panels have held up well with the individual arm rest needing new stuffing. It has 4 original DeSoto Wheel Covers that DeSoto used on their 1958 thru 1961 models. There is also one rear antenna mounting next to the fin. It did have a factory AM radio. Push Button Transmissions all work and move as they should. The 361 cubic inch engine appears to be all original and there, missing nothing. The Radiator looks to be original too, still has it's DPDC script on the top. This is a no reserve Auction. If there is at least one bid, it will sell. Bumper Chrome is presentable, not show quality but great driver quality. It shouldn't take much to get this car on the road, there is nothing exotic about this car and the parts are readily available being made by Chrysler. The car is located in Augusta Maine. I'm a collector and store my cars there, it was never driven in Maine. 500 dollar deposit in first 24 hours. Non Refundable if the transaction doesn't go thru for some reason. Balance due in 7 days of the end of Auction. If payment isn't received in 7 days, the car will be relisted and deposit forfeited. The car can be stored on sight in Maine for free for the first 30 days, then a monthly storage charge pro rata of 150 dollars per month. I would encourage folks to remove the car before December or else it will get snowbound. No phone calls, if you have a question, please ask via email system. All questions will be answered in writing. Again, no phone call, don't get angry when I refuse to give my number. This is the interweb! Use email. |
