Description of 1965 Dodge Other Pickups |
1965 Dodge D300, ton dually, latbed, 18 V-8, latbed, 000# winchIt is tight and drives well for its age. New flatbed deck (t&g pine) and new rails (pine). Had metal sides and rotted wood flatbed floor. It has some slight rust around the wheel wells and floor, ut all the metal is still solid and can easily be sanded and repainted. There are a few small holes in the lower doors. There is a leak in the clutch cylinder (hydraulic clutch), eems worse during extreme cold weather. Does hold fluid and operate properly though, s long as fluid level is maintained. I have replaced the heater core, alve cover gaskets, park plugs/wires, iper motor, nd speedometer cable. It does have a problem (probably carb or fuel pump) where it dies after running for a while. After waiting a while, t starts back up. I don't know what it is. I did have the compression tested recently, nd mechanic told me all cylinders are within acceptable range (no dead cylinders). When it runs, t runs good. It drives good. Tranny is sound, lutch is good, ear end is good, rakes are good. No known major mechanical issues other than inconsistent running (probably fuel or electrical). Is a perfect candidate for a restoration project. Would make a beautiful parade truck. Windshield has a few small star cracks, ut no major cracks, s sound. Side and rear glass all perfect. One rear-view outside mirror has chipped corner. Bought two new rear tires to replace weather-checked ones. All 6 tires have good tread and solid sidewalls. There is no spare. Has a hitch on rear which I have used to pull very small trailer. Has never towed anything large since I've owned it. Didn't have ball or hitch on when I bought, o I doubt it was used to tow anything. Winch is only two years old, arely used. I have skidded a few trees cutting firewood, hat is it. Winch could easily come out if that is preferred, s hidden behind grille. All lights work, aybe a couple burned bulbs, ut wiring is good. |
