Thanks to the engineering genius of Tom Hoover and the Ramchargers, 964 saw the return of a champion to the NASCAR circuit thanks to Richard Petty and the 426 HEMI engine. By 1967, hrysler was well underway with selling the Elephantpowered street carsto an unprepared public.One of the most spectacular versions of a HEMI powered Mopar was their Plymouth and Dodge "B" bodies, till a true midsize vehicle they were smaller and lighter than their GM and Ford counterparts. The GTX and Coronet R/T convertibles were lethal weapons compared to the larger-for-1967 Pontiac GTO and others. TheHEMI option wasunprecedented both by the cost of aengine option,adding nearly 30% to the final cost,and the sheer power available to thepublic without a racing license.A person's pocketbook and constitution were the only two things that keptHEMI convertible production numbers low, ot unlike the modern day HELLCAT Charger. She sports mostall original sheet metal andone high quality exterior repaint by Mopar aficionado, ance Cummings in 2006. Showing 29,075 miles since new, he has seen very few miles and nothing but sunshine on very dry, ery original body. Interior Description The interior is in very good, riginal and unrestored condition. High touch surfaces and bezels show some mild patina commensurate with age, ut also testify to how well kept and maintained this car has been through its life. Everything works. Engine Bay Description Can't miss the look of that 426 Hemi with the "chrome dome" air cleaner. According to the Dave Wise report, oth engineand all of its componentsas well as the transmission at numbers matching and correctfor the build date of the car. They areoriginalfactory correct built for this vehicle. The report also states that the VIN Tag, rim Tag,and Certicard are factory original. He goes on to state that the primary and secondary body VIN's are alsointact and correct. Engine assembly is original to the car. Engine bay is clean, ut also original and unrestored.
