Description of 1971 Dodge Challenger |
1971 Dodge Challenger R/T Tribute. This GoGreen Challenger was restored in 2014 by my father who passed away last year. A little history on the car: It was purchased by my dad a few years ago as a project car. The car was originally a base model Challenger, y dad was in the process of building it into an R/T tribute. He added the R/T striping and the scooped hood and upgraded the motor to a 360ci (car originally came with 318). He was in the process of looking for a 383ci for the car, nd already added the 383 badging to the hood. It also received a partial rebuild on the front end suspension. The car received a full body restoration, ams, irewall and all; My dad was an autobody specialist by trade. It has fresh seat upholstery, arpet and a new vinyl top. Sadly he wasn't able to fully finish the car. He took this car and did an incredible amount of work in restoring it; now somebody else can have the opportunity to give this car the final touches to make it into something truly great. That being said here is an overview of some the issues left to address on the car: -Steering knuckle has considerable play and needs to be rebuilt or replaced (car drives and steers fine, ut has play ). -Automatic transmission is slipping when warmed up. Car drives and accelerates fine until the transmission fluid heats up and then the tranny begins to slip. (may be as simple as an obstruction to the tranny coolant line -The car's undercarriage is unpainted; this is a personal preference for most people. I've personally climbed under the car to inspect the overall condition of the floor pans. The underside of the car is solid and in good shape (could use a coat of paint). The only place where rust might be of concern is at the driver's foot area (these areas gets moist from water on the driver's feet ) -driver side outer door handle is broken -gas gauge give erroneous reading. It's my hope to give a fair and truthful description of the car. If you have any questions, r want any additional information, lease don't hesitate to ask. -Corey |
