Description of 1968 Dodge Dart Hurst Hemi 426 Mopar |
From ourprivate collection here in Mobile, labama is this 1968 Dodge Dart Hurst 426 Hemi SS/AA racercreated by renowned Mopar Expert and BuilderJohnnyBurge. This car is incredible and was Johnny's baby for many years. Who better to build and restore one then the guy who owned and raced one! We purchased this car from him in 2009 and it has been stored in our climate controlled collection since. Car looks like it was built last week. I just cannot tell you how nice this car really is, ust got to see this one. Please read all of this ad for a history on this old girl. Please call me, ennis Lasseter Jr. @ 251-769-1639 between 8 am and 8 pm central timewith any questions you might have.Emails will be really slow to answeras I will be out of the office at Crusin The Coast in Biloxi, s. mostof the time during this eBay auction. If you would like to call and make an offer to purchase this car, gain justgive me a call and Iwill certainly try to help and make this a fun deal for both of us. No trade offers please. No text messages. As you know they only made about 69 of these cars new. The CPI guide valuebook does not even listthese cars, hey are that rare! A Brief history on this car: In 1969Hall of Fameracer Max Hurley took possession of his 68 Hurst Hemi426 SS/AADodge Dart and raced it all around the south until he sold it to Johnny Burge of Mobile, labama and two of his buddies ( Charlie McLemore & Howard Blackwell ) in 1976.Johnny street raced that caruntil 1979 whenit was damaged in an awful accident. Some parts were saved and the car was crushed as were most of these old cars back then. Johnny wanted to bring his old car back to life so around 1998 he found a fantastic body and with the help from his loving family, uper Stock racer Roy Brackin, averne Ferrouillat, and many many othersit came to pass and was completed in2002. This car is a "Feature Cover Car" in Mopar Collectors Guide magazine and the article is amazing. Written by Randy Holden and photographed by Robert Wolf !This original magazine comeswith the carand does verifywhat I am writing here. A Mopar expert told me a few years ago, his car hasmore "Original" parts thanthe fewvin number correctHemi Dart's that even exist today. Most of the parts on this car you cannot buy, eriod. This car is not cheap but it is far less than the $250 to $300 HundredThousand that I have seen paid for a few of these. In fact just last weekend at the Old Drag Racers Reunion in Panama City, l.,Moparexpert /journalist / writer/ historian / lover of all things Mopar Mr. Geoff Stunkard, ho has just completed his book "HEMI, History of Chrysler's Iconic V-8 in Competition" ( a must have for any Mopar guy! ) provided the crowd with afun and excitingHemi Racing Technical Seminarusing this very Dart.He really liked this car and to me that is huge!A shout out to Geoff, hanks my friend, e had a great time and appreciate you so much. I felt like a proud papa after the seminar.I want to take this time out also to say Bless Ya Tom Hoover ( 1929-2015 ), ather of the Hemi, ou will be missed!! The Super Stock fiberglass hood is an "ORIGINAL" ( I have been offered $10,000 and an aftermarket replacement for this Hood! ), iber Glass front fenders are in place also. The seats are "Original Hemi Dart Light Weight" seats with the special aluminum brackets in place. Pull up "Strap" windows as the originals were are here but they are not Corning, hey rattledso bad, ad to change that. These cars had no window parts inside the door. Rear seats did not come in these cars. The rear wheel openings were done using card-board templatesthat Mr. Brackin took off of his "Original" Hemi Dart years and years ago. That is how dead on this car is. The " Original Mirror Delete Plate" is mounted on the drivers side door!I know not many people have ever seen one of those plates, o cool!! Radiodelete, eater delete plates, tc. arein place too. The engine is a 1968"Original 426 Hemi Race" motor still sporting 13:5 to 1 Compression. This engine is correct in every way.It was built by the well knownMopar engine builder and racer LeverneFerrouillatof Mobile. The factory electronic ignition, eriod correct Mickey Thompson Tires with light weight Crager wheels are here too. The Transmission is the iconic 727 Automatic with Reverse Valve Body. Check out the photo of the correct Hurst Shifter in the floor, ts backwards. Its shifts from 123, ather than 321. The rear end is the 8 3/4 which is correct with4:10 gear ratio so it can be driven on the street with a few changes. It has full exhaust mounted also. Headlights, urn signals work, nd the emergency brake is hooked up. The huge "Mopar Performance Battery" is mounted in the trunk as it should be and I have another battery sitting beside it to run the car on but it can be taken out for shows. Please take a look at the photos. This car was rotisserie restored and no expense was spared. It was painted 3 times before Johnny was happy with it. I cannot replace this exact car at any price. The body on this car is incredible, t is as straight as a pond at night. The final painting was done byChip Hamilton in South Mississippi. I could not get really good photos because of all the reflections this solid black car creates. Even the front fiberglass fenders are as straight as any I have ever seen. Not a spot of rust anywhere! Again please call me if you have any questions. Sold as is but it is exactly like I say. Our collection building is only 3 minutes from the Mobile Alabama Regional Airport. Inspections are more than welcome with an appointment only. I will store this car with full insurance until you can make your arrangements to have it shipped. Car cannot leave our secure lockup until funds have cleared my bank. I reserve the right to close this auction at any time for any reason. I cannot hold this car for someone to just come look, orry. I know I will be bombarded with calls on this awesome car but I certainly want to help anyone that is serious in making this car part of their collection. If we agree on a price I can put a buy it now on the auction so you won't get beat out in the last 2 seconds by some computer program, ad but it happens all the time. I just want to be fair and have fun with this :) Thanks again for all the fun! Dennis Lasseter Jr. 251-769-1639 c c c 2003 dot com |
