Description of 1969 Dodge Charger R/T |
1969 Dodge Charger R/T Original Track Pak Dana 60 4-Speed car!! Original Numbers Matching Drivetrain!! Original Broadcast Sheet!! This is a real factory built L-code 440 4-speed 1969 Charger R/T. I recently brought this Charger out of Arizona...I have been told that the car was a southwest desert car since new! I was also told that the car was drag raced for anumberof years before it was put into storage in southern Arizona. I believe this to be true as the car's body and undercarriage are in remarkable condition. The are only two issues of significance with the body that I can see. One is that the car needs a trunk floor. I do not know what caused the trunk floor to corrode...it is very strange because the trunk dropoffs and the inner and outer rear wheel houses are all in GREAT shape...only the trunk floor itself went. The car's floors, ockers, rame rails and the entire undercarriage is in EXCEPTIONAL original condition! The front inner fenders are also in outstanding condition (see pictures). The other minor issue is that the driver's side door jamb has had a repair right at the striker area (see picture). A section of the driver's side jamb that includes the striker was cut out and replaced with a screwed on plate...definitely not a rust issue, nd no indications either of the car being damaged in that area. Those two things are a mystery to me. The car has nicks and some small dings here and there but overall the body is in great shape. The engine that is currently in the car is a 440 dated to 1968. However, b>I havethe original numbers matching 440 block...it is included in the sale!!!The 4-speed transmission that is in the car is also the original numbers matching transmission! And the original Dana 60 rearend is also still in the car! The written information that I was given concerning the drivetrain that is currently in the car states that the block is a 1968 440 bored .0030 over and a steel crankshaft turned .0010 under. Kieth Black pistons with a compression ratio of 10.5 to 1. Mopar windage tray, igh volume oil pump. Crower cam (310* duration with .555 lift) & hydraulic lifters. Double roller timing chain set. Stock intake and 906 heads with Edelbrock 650 carburetor. Hooker coated headers and Flowmaster 3" exhaust. Transmission is the original numbers matching 4-speed with factory Hurst shifter. Center Force dual friction clutch withresurfacedoriginal flywheel. Stock Dana 60 with Moser 35 spline axles & spool and Richmond 4.56 gears. Mopar subframe connectors, SM lift bars andadjustablepinion snubber. I have not verified all of this information, ut I have no reason tobelievethat it isn't accurate. At some point the interior color was changed to black and the door panels were swapped out for a goofy custom set. The rear seat is missing...I'm guessing this was a weight saving measure from when the car was raced. The AM radio is gone too as are the door arm rests and a few other small items. The extra parts included with the car are: The original numbers matching 440 block! Original crankshaft, et of original 906 heads, air of original valve covers, riginal exhaust manifolds, riginal rear gear set, riginal axles, air of leaf springs and rear shock plates, wo original magnum wheels, nd a few other small odds and ends. See the pictures of the original block and of the other parts that are included in the sale. The radiator support and trunk rail VIN stampings match the car, nd the original fender tag is still attached to the driver's side inner fender. Fender tag decodes as follows: E86 ------- 440 4-bbl HPD21 ------- 4-speed manual transmissionXS29 ----- X (Dodge Charger), (Special "R/T"), 9 (2 door Sports Hardtop)L9B ------- L (440 1-4bbl High Performance Engine), (1969), (Hamtramck, I.)284420 -- Last Six of VINW1 -------- White lower body paintW1 -------- White upper body paintC6G ------ C (Charger), (Vinyl Bucket Seats), (Green)F8 --------- Dark Green Upper Door Paint203 ------- Production date (February 3rd)928146 -- Vehicle Order Number (Matches Broadcast Sheet)A01 ------ Light PackageA33 ------ Track Pak Dana 60 with 3.54 Axle RatioC16 ------ ConsoleC55 ------ Bucket SeatsC15 ------ Deluxe Seat BeltsG33 ------ LH Remote MirrorL31 ------- Hood Mounted Turn SignalsM21 ------ Roof Drip Rail MoldingsM31 ------ Belt MoldingsN85 ------ TachometerR11 ------ AM Radio 2-wattsV8X ----- Transverse Stripe, lack26 -------- 26 inch RadiatorEND ----- End of Sales Codes As stated above, his Charger was drag raced before it went into storage, nd from the information above and based on how this car runs...I believe it!!! The engine needs some tuning but it runs EXTREMELY strong and the transmission shifts through all the gears. However, his Charger R/T is a brute and it is a handful to drive...I would say that in its current configuration it is not...street friendly. Do not plan on buying this Charger and driving it home, ou should bring a trailer or have the car shipped to you. I would like to see this Charger R/T restored to like new factory original condition, ut you could certainly go a couple of other directions with it as well. You could restomod this Charger R/T and have an incredible light to light street machine, r you could build it into an absolutely awesome highway Pro-touring road car! The great thing about this car in any of those scenarios is that you are not starting out with junk! Look at the 68-70 B-body Mopars out there for sale right now, ost all of them are neglected rusted out hulks...most are also factory base cars with no documentation and long gone drivetrains. Those cars ultimately lead to huge headaches and turn into giant money pits for the good intentioned owners. Why start yourself out with what amounts to a giant expensive boat anchor? Don't fall into that trap, tart yourself out right! This is anextremelysolid unrestored southwest desert Charger R/T 4-speed with documentation and its original drivetrain! This is likely to be the most solid never restored 1969 Charger R/T that you will find, here are not many like this left! Starting out with a better car right from thebeginningwill save you tons ofaggravationand money down the road...I have learned thislessonmyself the hard way. And in addition to saving yourself a lot of work and money, t the end of the day you will have a much more original and better car! If you are looking for a really solid and documented factory built 68-70 Charger R/T 4-speed to restore...look no further! The car is in mypossessionin my garage. If you are interested in the car you are certainly welcome to come and see it in person, n fact I would encourage you to do so, ust contact me to set up a time.
