Description of 1927 Dodge Other

1927 Dodge Brothers Turtleback Roadster

Up for sale is an extremely rare Turtleback Roadster. Between 1915-1928 Dodge Brothers only made 487 of these total. Today maybe only 4-5 of these survive in any condition.
They are rare enough to be almost a singularity. This particular example is in pretty good condition considering it is almost 90 years old. It doesn't appear that this roadster was ever rusted out in a field or derelict. It was made into a Hot Rod back when that craze first started and given a Dodge Silver Dome truck engine that was decked and bored and producing some 90hp back in 1939 and the car was repainted at that time as well and untouched since. Between 1939 and today this car was remained pretty much unchanged. She is pretty much in a preserved stock shape. She does run and drive just fine and will come with one spare tire, step plates, custom header pipes and importantly, a custom made OD transmission which was built for this car. The upholstery and top are new. Though showing age and weathering this car is a solid driver and should be bought to preserve her place in early Hot Rod history, Dodge Brothers History or could be made into an extremely rare and desirable style T-bucket or Mopar Hot Rod.

The only things the new owner may address if keeping this car as she is; repairing the canvas top arms. speedometer functions as it spins and moves but lacks a cable to the transmission to function. Original Oogah horn works but needs rebuilt as it doesn't produce the correct sound. The headlights are wired on the same switch as the fuel pump so the lights will just stay on the whole time. Personally I would wire that differently. Everything operates as intended and seems to work as OEM.

This car has tons of potential as both a stock restoration of an extremely rare Dodge Brothers but equally as an extremely cool Hot Rod. This car was never a rusted shell that was brought back but a consistently driven car for almost 90 years. There are registration and race stickers dating from 1943, 1951, 1962 as well as two very cool vintage door decal signs from an old race that this car was in as well. There is a lot of history here. I think my reserve here is fair given current market but it's also hard to assign value these as so few exist there is little to gauge it against.
That being said happy bidding on this historic and very rare coupe.
Don't wait to bid or just watch this car. If you think you'll see another pop up for sale you would be wrong! There really isn't going to be another Dodge Brothers Turtleback you'll find anywhere. The parts on this car have tremendous value just for Dodge guys to use to restore the cars they have now. So this car having all her original parts is rare enough to warrant giving this car serious consideration.
