Description of 1968 Dodge Dart 383 HP 4bbl 68 GTS/Restored/Loaded/Red/Pearl White |
I reserve the right to yank the listing if it sells locally. Also, if this doesn't sell soon, I intend to consign it to a specialty dealer for greater exposure. This car deserves an owner whohas the time topamper and treasure it to a greater degree than I have! In 1968, Rudy Claar walked intohis localDodge dealership and ordered this car when he was 57 years old! I rather think he had good taste in his color choiceand was a good steward of this car holding on to it until he was well into his 80s. Hemust have beena man who loved this machine. It was finally sold to a man who intended to restore it after his purchase in the 90s butlost interest in it eventually and sold it to the man who did restore it having completed it in 2015. Shortly after completion, it was placed in competition by him at the 2015 MOPAR NATS in A BODY ORIGINAL and it took second place in that class with 510 points. I acquired itafter thatandhave done very little to it other than refining and debugging. I've only driven it about60 miles and it's only been driven about 100 miles since being restored. A body Darts areSELDOM found restored to this standard. When found, are theyEVERfound in this color and/or at this option level? The car is equipped with front and rear bumper guards, fender mounted turn signals, light package, dual side view chrome mirrors, and tinted glass as well as the aforementioned options above. The stripe was deleted by Mr Claar at the time of his order and it WASdevoid of any stripe when the restoration was completed last yearBUT I have since applied a correct white tail stripe. The engine and transmission are original to the car and yes, both were rebuilt. The dash finish and paint, I was told, areoriginal to the car (and appear so)reflecting the care it received. Only the plastic chromebezels wererefinished. The VIN tag still looks fresh, too and, YES, I have the build sheet, owner's manual, and the metal certicard. The fender tag is in place as well. This strongly supports the story that it was always garaged. I added theHalibrand look, aftermarket15" wheels and a set of 215 65 R15 Diamondback III Radials, freshened the trunk, and added a space saver spare to allow a flatter trunk floor. I also have the five 14x5.5 rims that came with the car AND THEY'VE NOT HAD ANY CAPS INSTALLED ON THEM SINCE PAINTED. The FIVE wheelswere painted red when the car was restored. Thefour wheel covers are also included as well as the original steering wheel. Attention to detail is apparent everywhere. It even smells right! 1113 GTS Hardtops with a high performance 383 4 barrel and Torqueflite were built for 1968 according to one source. Of those, how many remain 48 years later? Of those, how manywere builtas this one was? This is undoubtedly one of the finest big block Darts available and, factoring in the stunning and rare color combination, should make this car irresistable to anythinking Mopar fan, Abody fan, or any musclecar enthusiastanywhere in the world who wants a non run of the mill Dart in a stunning color combo from the golden age of American street performance. MANY believe the 1968 Dart is the only year Dart to own for a variety of reasons so here is an opportunity for the rightsteward and in RED/PEARL WHITE, TOO!Don't beone of those who grow to lament letting this very specialGTS get away. DODGE FEVER, ANYONE? Study the pics and ask questions, please, and to answer those that have asked about atrade, yes, trades are certainly something I am not unwilling to consider. |
