Description of 1967 Dodge Other Sportsman A108 A100 |
If you are truly interested in this van, then call me at 912-414-8993 ---- Messages without a phone number in them will be ignored. Sorry, but I am trying to sel this va, people! Please read entire ad before contacting me. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time, and I will likely be ending it early for the guy who calls me to discuss buying it. I recently (This very week) purchase this van, and paid to have it transported across the USA. This van owes me $4600 at this point, and I doubt I will be getting it back, but I am cutting my losses here. I am not willing to lose too much on it though. I really wanted on old, vintage Mopar Van for my wife/ I to use here. I found this online on several sites --- This van had been parked since 1979 in an airplane hangar, and after talking to the seller (Let's call him..... Liar Bill from Osseo, I wass assured the van was absolutely rust fre, except for one spot of rust the size of a quarter on a fender. I was told (By Liar Bill of Osseo) the floors were perfect, the interior was like new except for the front drivers side seat, and I was told many other optimistic estimations of the condition of this van. I was told it was not running, and would need the brakes overhauled, which was accurate. On Liar Bill's promises of no rust, I immediately sent the money to purchase, and had a truck collect it from Wisconsin and bring it to me here in Savannah, Ga. Well..... Bill earned his title of Liar as the van does have quite a bit of rust. More than I (who does not do body work or weld) can handle, anyway. The most disappointing thing was finding, upon lifting back the rubber front floor mat, quite a bit of rust, including a hole. I called Liar Bill immediately to report his shortcomings as an appraiser. He told me as far as I he knew, the van had no rust. He did admit he did not look under the mats, or carpet in back, nor did he ever look underneath the truck. (I did ask him why he then felt comfortable telling me the truck has no rust, as it is hard to detect through 40 year old shag carpet and opaque black rubber mats ... he hustled me off the phone, of course) . I'll stop mentioning Liar Bill now, I am just trying to get my money's worth in amusement at his expense, since I am going to lose money on this truck. The dash does look nice, van rolls easily, I got under it and the engine does turn over with the starter motor. I AM NOT going to try to start this truck though! There is a mouse nest or three on top of the intake manifold, the gas tank looks old and crusty, and there are no spark plug wires on the engine. I am not willing to spend more time and money on a project that is not going to pay me back. Remember; cutting my losses here. Floo, other than front, looks nice under the old, stinky, moist shag carpet. Dash looks great. DOCUMENTS : I have the original Chrysler Certicard for the truck, and the paper trail from original to #2 owner, who was the one to park it in the airplane hangar in 1979. I am owner #3, and I have only had the van for 22 hours now, so you can really consider it a 2-owner van. Original glove-box book is present with original service dates in it. Mileage (88,190 miles) is documented as original, so that at least is good. Where the paint is flaking off on the outside of the van? Underneath the flaky paint it is GALVANIZED. What?? Were these galvanized back in 1967? I thought this odd, but it is true. There is rust in almost every corner of the van, even if only a little bit. THE FACE/ FRONT of the van is perfect though! What may look like rust is only flaky paint. Drip rail around the top great. All glass great. All glass rubber even looks great. Would make a cool project. You will not be driving this home, of course. Will need to be towed. I have clear title, as well as original owners book with records, and paper trail through second (and last) owner. There is a bed in back with what was a brand new mattress (I took it out of its bag) -- marked July 7, 1978. Bed should be removed, but it is a quality install. All doors open and close well, and doors are rust free! CALL ME AT 912-414-8993 WITH ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT CONDITION, OR TO PURCHASE.
