Description of 1989 Dodge Dakota |
1989 was a big year for the Dodge Dakota. The Shelby model was introduced as well as the rare convertible model. The Dodge Dakota Convertible was the first and last soft top convertible pick-up truck offered by a manufacture since the Ford Model A pick-up. Only 1. 59 Convertible models where built from 1989-1991. All 89's where sport trim. equipped with the V6 engine. power windows. power door locks. cruise control. and the deluxe bench seat. Options included automatic transmission. air conditioning. and 4 wheel drive. All 89's where offered in red. white. or black and all came with the burgundy interior. This 1989 Dodge Dakota Convertible was built in May of 1989 and shipped to the West Coast. where it was first sold in Washington State. It spent the first half of it's life there until it was brought to Santa Cruz. California where it has resided since then. This truck has seen 4 owners. I have owned it for the past 5 years and had intended on owning it much longer. but the need for a larger truck with a back seat has forced it's sale. This truck came to me in original condition with the only modification being a 1 ½ inch body lift. In the 5 years I have owned it it has received a custom steering wheel. power leather bucket seats form an 01 Durango. a custom removable center console with power outlets. painted stock wheels. HID headlights. a chrome grille. Cat back dual exhaust. larger side view mirrors. and a tow hitch. All of the original parts will be included with the truck's sale. This truck has been my daily driver for the past 5 years and has made many trips between southern Oregon and Southern California. It has never broken down on me or left me stranded. In the time I have owned it I have replaced the oil pump. water pump. and radiator (upgraded with heavy duty towing radiator and transmission oil cooler). I have not used it for much towing and nothing over 3. 00 pounds. The truck has never been restored and most everything is original. The paint still holds a good shine but does have some fading. nbsp;scratches. and blemishes as would be expected after 26 years. The body is straight and has no dents. only a few parking lot dings. The bed has been used for hauling and shows it's use. It also had a new top installed a few years ago. I chose a tan vinyl top with a zip out rear window. There are some leaks when it rains. Nothing major. but the leaks are due to worn weather stripping. which is no longer available for these trucks. One piece of weatherstripping is missing behind the passenger side window. I am in the process of fabricating a replacement. This truck is not in show room condition and is probably not the best choice for someone looking for a "showroom specimen". It is. however. in very good condition for a 26 year old daily driver and it never fails to turn heads no matter where it goes. It looks great as is or would make a good "easy" restoration project. If you have any further questions. or would like to view the truck in person. please don't hesitate to send me a message. I can send you pictures of any part of the truck you would like for further detail. This truck is being sold as-is where is. Shipping and any local taxes. smog. registration fees. etc. are not included. I have tried my best to describe the truck in it's current condition. but if there is anything you would like further clarification on. please message me BEFORE placing a bid. A $250 non-refundable deposit will be required upon winning. Happy bidding! |
