The 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A is among the most eye-catching muscle cars ever built, period. When Dodge finally got a legitimate pony car to race in the Sports Car Club of America's Trans American Sedan Championship in 1970, it built a muscle car version for the street that was even wilder than the competition model. ‘Red Hills Rods & Classics’ is proud to offer you this absolutely gorgeous, frame-off rotisserie restored 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A 4-Speed car finished in arguably the most beautiful color combination available in 1970 (Code FC7) Plum Crazy Purple wrapped around a stunning (Code H6XW) White Vinyl Bucket Seat Interior w/ console. They just don’t come any more beautiful than this! This outstanding 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A is listed in the ‘Challenger T/A Registry’ and was shipped from the factory with all the right stuff! A no-expense spared nut & bolt rotisserie restoration was just completed a couple of weeks ago and the final results are nothing short of breath taking. With less than 20 test miles driven since completion, this Challenger T/A resembles a car that just rolled off of the assembly line. All of the sheet metal is absolutely laser straight all the way around the car and the Plum Crazy Purple paint is perfect w/ a deep lustrous shine. The matte black T/A hood fits beautifully, as most of these hoods are bowed on both sides. Thick side stripes, bold ID graphics, and a black ducktail spoiler round out the mean T/A look. It was decided to remove the White Vinyl Roof during the restoration process due to the owner's preference. I must say, it really does look gorgeous with the painted roof. Both chrome bumpers and the small amount of stainless trim is show quality throughout. All of the glass is brand new with no distractions whatsoever. She sits on the original Rallye wheels wrapped w/ new BF Goodrich TA radial tires. Again, this 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A looks factory fresh throughout. Open the driver’s door and you will find a perfect & factory correct White Vinyl Bucket Seat interior w/ console 4-Speed and original Rallye instrument cluster. All of the gauges, lights, blinkers, etc are in perfect working order. When you slide in, wrap your right hand around the factory Pistol Grip Shifter and look out over the T/A Sport Hood, you will be taken back to an era where true American muscle cars ruled the streets! Please look closely at the photos to see how nicely this interior was restored. Remove the hood pins, and you will find a beautifully detailed engine bay featuring all factory correct components throughout, including hoses, clamps, battery, etc. Nestled inside is the correct 340ci Six-Pack motor dressed in all its glory. Despite the ‘Six-Pack’ carburetion as well as a host of internal reinforcements, the T/A's mill carried the same 290hp rating as the regular four-barrel 340s, though true output was much closer to 350hp. Feeding it air was a suitcase sized scoop molded into the pinned-down matte black fiberglass hood. Low-restriction dual exhausts ran to the stock muffler location under the trunk, and then reversed direction to exit in the chrome-tipped ‘megaphone’ outlets in front of the rear wheels. The 340ci Six-Pack motor is linked to a correct A833 4-Speed Manual Transmission, which feeds power to the factory 3.55 rear end. The motor & transmission were both completely rebuilt to factory specifications during the restoration process. She starts, idles, runs, drives & performs beautifully in every way, and has loads of power & torque. The transmission shifts smooth & precise, pulling hard through all four gears. The factory Power Steering makes driving around town effortless and the factory Power Disc Brakes gets her stopped in a hurry. The suspension on these T/A cars were a step-up from your standard 1970 Challengers. The special Rallye suspension basically used heavy-duty everything, and increased the camber of the rear springs. The T/A was among the first production cars that featured different sized tires front and rear (E60x15s up front, G60x15s in back). The modified camber elevated the tail enough to clear the rear rubber and the exhaust outlets, giving the Challenger T/A that street-punk stance. Overall, you would be very hard pressed to find a more beautiful T/A anywhere at any price, period! Whether you are looking for a show car that will win First Place trophies at any national level car event, or simply a classic muscle car that you can drive & enjoy to the fullest, this gorgeous 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A is the perfect choice!
