Description of 1966 Dodge Charger Base |
NEW - Reserve removed and buy-it-now price reduced This 1966 Charger was originally a 318 cu.in. automatic. A major part of the renovation I undertook included boring and stroking the engine to 396 cu.in. The original 727 automatic transmission has been rebuilt to handle the additional torque and coupled to the engine with a 2,500 RPM stall convertor, basically a racing transmission. The drive shaft is a custom-made aluminum shaft with new u-joints. Dodge did not produce any performance upgrades to the 318 so the pistons, rocker arms, and cam were custom made during the engine build. Also, I installed headers and dual exhaust, by TTI, to replace the original single exhaust. The interior has been completely replaced, exclusive of the dash pad, with reproduction carpeting, seats and seat covers from Legendary. I have a recovered dash pad to install. I also have an empty instrument cluster that was to be re-plated and converted to a totally electronic dash. Electroluminescent dashboard is functional with a few dead elements. The fuel, temp, and oil pressure gauges do not work because of a burned-out voltage limiter. The tach does not work. Hence, the extra instrument cluster and tachometer. I had a custom-made AM/FM stereo radio built into an original AM radio along with rear-mounted speakers. I do have the original radio. The entire front suspension has been rebuilt. The power steering unit was rebuilt and a custom steering linkage was used to connect the steering unit to the steering column. New leaf springs, shocks and upper and lower control arms have been installed. This upgrade was done to properly align the front end. The tires are redline radials mounted on reproduction Magnum 500 aluminum wheels. I have an extra rear window, weather stripping, cat hair seals and more parts available to go along to the successful bidder. Also included are reproduction service manuals, parts listing, and all invoices and receipts from the restoration. My starting bid amount is $26,000.00 with a buy-it-now of $38,000.00 |
