Description of 1957 Dodge Other |
1957 Dodge Regent. 2 door sedan. powerflite pushbutton transmission. 303 cu in V8. power steering. front disk brake upgrade. I bought the car in 2010. Work I have done on the car includes: rebuilt carburetor. replaced rear brake drums. new brake shoes and rebuilt wheel cylinders. replaced head and intake gaskets. In 1957 Chrysler of Canada put the front end of a Dodge (fenders. hood. grill. and bumper) on a Plymouth in order to sell it at a higher price. This is a fine example of Virgil Exner's forward look design for 1957. It's a Dodge coming and a Plymouth going. Production numbers for the 1957 Dodge Regent is 16. 70 and very few that are in good condition have survived. Known issues: Some peeling of the chrome on the bumpers. Dry rot in the tires. Bubbles in paint on top of front fenders. There were some of these bubbles on top of the passenger door before I sanded it down to find the cause. It turns out to be a result of the paint not adhering to the primer. not rust. Could use an exhaust system in the future. Temperature gauge and radio do not work. The car is a solid #3 car with no rust and a good driver. It has a very straight body and a clean vinyl interior. |
