Description of 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger

This 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger has an absolutely amazing story. It's a full professional race build with an engine by Keith Black, and it was even painted by the custom car master George Barris. The coupe then hit the tracks to become a champion, and then spent half its life tucked away in a barn. So read on for the details if you don't already know the story of this legendary drag racer that's up for grabs right now. The legend starts with the budget builder bible, Car Craft magazine. They got together with the best sponsors to create the ultimate stock class drag racer. To make this performance Mopar truly distinctive, they asked George Barris to do what he does best. He created a one-of-a-kind paint theme that would make this memorable. And today you can see he did just that with a custom presentation that survives as an amazing legacy to the late car painting and building legend. Yes, that's right, you're looking at a coupe that has been untouched since it was complete in 1969 - everything from the bumpers to most of the decals are believed to be original. That's a small miracle considering this car's history. A housewife won the Car Craft contest (given away at the NHRA World Finals,) traded this in for a station wagon, and then it was sold to a true drag racing fan who used it for its intended purposes. So not only is it a beautiful legend, but it also earned a few nice awards, including an AHRA world record. The Dart would pass through a few more hands before going to a collector in 1991. It would stay preserved in his barn until he passed in 2017. The interior remains just as much of a time capsule as the exterior. It's a true racer, so that means a bench seat car with most of the weighty frills removed. You get the classic Mopar three-spoke steering wheel to grab with your left hand, and your right one will be plenty busy with the Hurst Competition shifter. Even the Stewart-Warner tach that was advertised in Car Craft is still on display! Under the hood is another legend that will make you weak in your muscle car knees. Keith Black built the 340 cubic-inch V8 for the Car Craft Swinger. According to the consignor, Galen Govier has verified that this is the original engine and four-speed manual transmission still with this car. This race-ready powerplant inhales deeply through a Carter four-barrel carburetor, and we know you've noticed the headers peeking out from underneath the doors. They add plenty of power and a truly ferocious growl. And since the largest sponsor decal you see is Cragar, you better believe this is wearing a set of completion-style S/X wheels. The sale comes with a huge file including Car Craft articles and paperwork documenting the ownership chain (there are so many more cool stories to tell on this one!) There's also title documentation and maintenance records, too. This is a true 1 of 1, and cars with this much pedigree are usually set at outrageous prices. So don't miss you chance at a legend that's this authentic and obtainable. Call today!!!
