Description of 1964 Dodge Polara 500

Offered is this very rare, 1964 Dodge Polara 500 with the optional 426 Max Wedge engine. Of the 153 Max Wedge Dodge's built, 5 were Polara 500 2-door hardtops. Of these, this vehicle is the only one known to still exist per Galen Govier. This is a factory drag racer; the car Jan & Dean sing about in their song "Little Old Lady from Pasadena". I purchased this car about 16 years ago from Don Owens who had the car for 10 years awaiting restoration. Don was the person responsible for reproducing many Max Wedge parts and bringing back the possibility to restore them. The car had 9,925 original miles on it and still wore it's original paint. The undercoat is still all original as are the door jambs and the inside of the trunk. I only painted the car because the paint had been rubbed through to the metal in places. As you can see, I have doubled the mileage from when I purchased the car and wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. The Polara 500 was the top-of- the-line Dodge in 1964 and was equipped with bucket seats and floor console. This vehicle features the extremely rare TRI-Y exhaust and is the only Max Wedge known to have them installed. The exhaust less the clamps is all NOS. These manifolds are like finding a unicorn. If you were to find a set for sale (which you won't) you would expect to pay 20k for them. This car has been verified correct by Galen Govier. It has attained grand national status in the AACA, has been featured in Mopar Action magazine, been featured in a 2015 calendar and was invited to and shown at the Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals (MCACN) in November of 2014. It is listed in Darrell Davis's Max Wedge guide. This vehicle is one of a kind and cannot be duplicated. One photo is of Don Garlits with my car after it was chosen as one of his top picks.
