This 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A is part of a very select group - fewer than 650 of its kind were made to begin with, and far fewer are still on the streets today, so its collectability is undeniable. This special edition Challenger came and went in the course of a single year while serving as the street legal version of Dodge's potent entrant in the Sports Car Club of America Trans Am Competition and it comes with plenty of proof...that it's the real thing, including its own factory build sheet, as well as Galen Govier certification. A skillful freshening of the original red color, as well as plenty of shelter over the years, leaves this as one fine looking vintage Dodge. The paint shows well, with a nice smooth texture and even pigmentation and the flat black decals that add contrast as well as an authentic look are in great shape. The front and rear bumpers sit level and the aggressive scoop sitting on the center of the hood is one of the identifying features of this special breed of Challenger and that, too, is looking sharp and straight. The body trim, front grille and light housings all have a fresh, newer look to them and they combine with the nice clear glass surrounding the cabin with fresh rubber seals to really amplify this classic's road-ready vibe. The black vinyl interior beyond the doors remains in its original configuration and skillful upholstery work, coupled with a nice attention to detail, has resulted in its very clean appearance. Both the high-backed front bucket seats, as well as the bench seat in back, sport vinyl covers that have yet to develop any noticeable wear marks as they sit over an expanse of black carpeting that's accented with a pair of T/A branded floor mats in front. Sitting between the buckets is a sharp looking center console with a woodgrain accent that still looks nice and fresh, as well as a signature Dodge pistol grip shifter with which to put this classic muscle car through its paces. A stock steering wheel sits on the distinctive Challenger column, while just beyond it, the dash area is yet another strong feature, with clear, readable gauges in an instrument panel with a woodgrain accent of its own and a straight, supple-looking dash pad spanning the width of the cabin. The engine compartment has just the well-detailed look you'd want, with a 340 cubic inch V8 sitting at its center, surrounded by inner fenders and a firewall painted to match the exterior. The engine features a properly painted block, as well as a signature oblong air cleaner whose badging calls out the special edition fuel delivery system in place to properly feed it - the MoPar six pack, composed of a trio of 2 barrel carbs. Sitting just behind it is a 4-speed manual transmission to provide the "hands on" driving experience fitting for such an iconic classic. Featured power steering makes this well-proportioned muscle car easy to handle, while power brakes that include discs up front offer dependable, fade resistant stopping power as it cruises on its set of 15" stock Dodge wheels that are wrapped with Goodyear Eagle GTII tires. A look below is a must - the undercarriage features precisely painted frame rails and floor pans to give it a great, finished look.
