Description of 1966 Dodge Polara |
Up for auction is a pretty cool find. This is what I would call a garage find 1966 Dodge Polara Sedan with only 72. 83 actual miles and a 383 2bbl Big Block. It was previously a one owner car that had been purchased new in 1966 in Bismarck. ND where it spent most of its life. It has been in storage since 2001 and had not been driven much for years prior to that. It has been kept in excellent running order and has been started and warmed up frequently and taken for the occasional drive around the block for all those years. It recently had a full tune up. nbsp;brake system gone through. all fluids regularly changed whether it needed it or not and the carburetor rebuilt. It starts. runs and drives great. It is a complete car and all original with the exception that it was repainted its original Yellow factory color many years ago and looks okay. The rear quarter panels around the wheel wells and into the dog legs are rusty and would need to be repaired or replaced with patch panels and the right front fender has a small rust area that looks to be easily repaired. I have not been able to get underneath the car but from visual inspection the frame rails and the floor pans all look solid and in good condition overall. I will be putting the car in the air to verify the under carriage and will take photos to confirm that. The trunk pan is in good condition overall but appears to have two very small rust patches starting as noted in the pictures of the trunk area. The interior is in well above average condition and has some details that pictures cannot do justices for. The dash and dash pad are in excellent condition with no cracking or fading and the chrome is in great condition. All the instruments and gauges. turn signals. radio. nbsp;and heater work great. The seats are all original but have a couple of very easily repair items that an interior expert can fix cheaply and are shown in pictures. The headliner. visors and vinyl top are also in well above average condition and are original. It does have newer black carpeting that is also in great condition as the previous owner had additional carpeting and mats over everything. Old school! It has a rarely seen telescoping tilt wheel but is missing the center emblem and steering wheel does have the typical cracking. The car has aftermarket "hang on" air conditioning which I am told was done when it was new but the belt is not in place so cannot tell you if it works. The compressor does not appear to be frozen and does turn freely. The chrome and bright work on the car is in well above average condition and the front grille and surround are in great condition. There is one very small ding that is noted in the picture but much nicer than most I've seen. The bonus that goes with the car is there are a set of older period correct wide whitewall. polyglass tires that are in great condition with no dry cracking and almost full tread. There are also two sets of the original wheel covers not on car and the lower rear fender skirts. Overall this is a very solid car that needs some restoration in areas. as noted. but not appear to be a complete restoration project or will make for a very cool driver as it sits. Your choice. As with any 48 year old car. nbsp;it is impossible to note every detail or good and bad so feel free to ask questions before bidding and I will answer them to the very best of my ability. You are welcomed to have the car independently inspected to avoid any surprises or unknown items or issues. The car is being sold "AS IS. AS SEEN. AS IT SITS" . I do my best to describe items as I see them. Sorry. but if you have a zero feedback score you will need to contact me prior to bidding or I will remove it. Once again. if you have any question please feel free to ask prior to bidding. As far as shipping. You can either pick the car up directly or I have a friend who owns an Auto Transport company and ship cars throughout the U. S. so I am able to assist in referring you to him for transportation at your expense. Thanks and Happy Bidding |
