Description of 1964 Dodge Dart GT |
It pains me to do this but it's about time I let my baby go! Up for auction is my classic 1964 Dodge Dart GT Convertible Anniversary Edition. This model year was Dodge's 50th Anniversary and it's also the last year Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth used the push-button transmission selector. The car originally came with 273 V8 motor, but it was replaced with a rebuilt 318 by an excellent local Mopar mechanic. Brakes, carburetor, radiator, and water pump have also been replaced. The radio, heater, and convertible top motor all work. Besides a check-up or a minor tune-up the car needs nothing for a day of cruising. To give a little ownership history, in 2003 I entered my Dart at the Seattle Greenwood Car Show (the first and only time), Seattle's largest and most prestigious car show. Surprisingly, my Dart took Third Place for the Classic Convertible category! To me that was a big deal considering the First and Second place convertibles were pristine restorations of a Desoto Firesweep and a Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz! Both of those cars were easily worth over a $100k at that time. What an honor to be in that company of cars! Please refer to the pictures and you will see that the body has some knicks, scrapes, and dings. Nothing major, but there are some. The chrome bumpers has some pitting but still very good for the car's age. The top is in excellent condition but the rear window zipper does not zip all the way. Because the car is only driven on sunny days and is always garaged (and car covered most of the time), the zipper situation never bothered me. She IS NOT a show-quality, concours trailer queen, so don't expect perfection. What she is, though, is a great cruising automobile that's in very good to excellent condition for her age. We drove, enjoyed, and took care of our Dart the best we could. For a car that's 55 years old, she still looks amazing and continues to get plenty of attention! I'm also including some Dodge items I've collected that pertains to the car including the 1964 Service Manual and the Dodge Sales Brochures. I have other stuff that are not pictured like badges. Preferred payment is a certified bank check, or bank to bank wire funds transfer. After the bank check or wire transfer has cleared the buyer can either pickup the car from my house or arrange for vehicle transport. Please message me with your questions. I will answer them the best I can. We can discuss her strong points and her flaws. Thank you for looking! LASTLY, I'M ALL ABOUT HONOR AND INTEGRITY AND I KNOW THIS SHOULD BE OBVIOUS, BUT DON'T BID IF YOU DON'T PLAN ON BUYING THIS CAR! |
