Description of 1968 Dodge Charger R/T

Classic 1968 Dodge Charger R/T was sold new by a San Francisco Dodge dealer. When I bought the car in California the seller told me he was the second owner but can't verify. The car was apparently always in California until I brought it to Utah. The car has been garaged and seldom driven for at least the last 20 years.

The Charger was a daily driver until the second owner had the car restored as finances allowed between 1990 and 2000. The body work was done and the car was repainted original red, it was at best a driver quality paint job. The quarters and floor pans are reportedly original. The trunk pan was replaced but the body man riveted it in so it will need to be properly welded in. The car later had minor rear fender damage to the right side, apparently backed into a tree years ago. Some of the exterior trim parts were not properly replaced. There are trim items in the trunk, The vinyl top was replaced. Needs a new windshield. Driver side vent window trim has damage, replacement vent window is in the trunk. No antenna but has the bezel. Hood mounted turn signals were not reinstalled but the assembly is in the trunk. Has the original Magnum 500 wheels and older tires.

The interior is mostly original. The front bucket seats were recovered to a similar but not the correct original pattern.Has original headliner, rear seat, door panels, console, shifter, seat belts, etc. Tic-toc Tach (not working). Most gauges do work. Original rear speakers. No package tray. The AM radio is in the trunk, not known whether it works or not.

The second owner had the engine professionally rebuilt in 2000 and has about 1000 miles since rebuild. Care was taken to keep the original block and all original parts possible with car. I have the receipts for the work. The motor appears to be all original matching numbers. Numbers and dates on block and car have been checked and I am satisfied that it is the original block. Buyer should verify numbers and dates to their own satisfaction. Motor seems to run fine.

Core support also is matching numbers. Transmission is believed to be the 727 original. Trans pan gasket leaks, has new gasket that needs to be installed. The AC compressor is on the engine but the system was not reassembled so AC not working. Most of the parts are in the trunk. There are various additional parts for the car in the trunk that can be used in a restoration. The car has PS, PB and Sure Grip rear end.
The California black plates are registered to the car and will come with it if buyer desires. Has owner's manual and some documentation and receipts.

The Charger has the fender tag in place and the broadcast sheet showing all original equipment and options. It may be difficult to read the broadcast sheet in the pic but the original is mostly readable. I can decipher codes and equipment if requested.
The value in the car is that it is an original, rare and highly collectible California 1968 Charger R/T with the original matching numbers 440 Magnum engine. The Charger is pretty much original and complete which will facilitate a high level restoration. Charger is for sale locally so auction will end if sold. Sold as is.
Call or text Rick at 435-632-8150 with questions. I didn't do any of the work on the car so I only know what I can see and what I was told but will answer anything I can.
