1994 Dodge Viper In 1990, when the original group of 75 convened to design and engineer the Viper, all involved were given a copy of the book Skunk Works, by Ben Rich. That book told the story of the Lockheed special division that designed and built a series of innovative planes, including the U-2, SR-71, and Stealth Bomber. Viper lead engineer Roy Sjoberg, hoped the book would inspire his engineers to create a small, highly functional, and creative team. The book, by the way, is a fantastic read. Here we offer up for consignment a 1994 one owner, original 52,100 mile car, with all service invoices, the window sticker, and owner's manual. This car has been driven to shows all over the country, and used as a pleasure vehicle which has never been tracked. A true original 10-cylinder ass kicker! Exterior With its low slung curvaceous body panels made of a composite material with fiber reinforced skin, integrated bumpers, front quarter panel door cove, black side pipes long sports car hood, dual bumped roofline, and rear taillights that look much like a stinging bee, this car is an awesome design. All bathed in Dandelion Yellow which remains in very good condition with just a few faults throughout. 18-inch honeycombed magnesium wheels are all around. and a note to the top which can be lifted off for some open-air motoring. Interior Dark gray is the color of the leather interior, with racy buckets that float in a sea of black carpet with red embroidered floor mats, and in front of a curved gray dash. This houses several white-faced gauges, power windows, power locks, and AM/FM/Cassette radio and climate controls. All very simply laid out clear for the eyes to see and monitor. Drivetrain Flipping the entire front of the car forward we are hit with the beautiful engineering of the V10 all wrapped in red. This 8.0 liter puts out 400 horses and is fed by EFI. A T56 6-speed manual transmission is found on back and a Dana 44 rear axle with 3.07 Viper gearing is way back. Undercarriage A total rust free, structurally sound ground effect paneled environment can be seen underneath. Independent suspension is all around as are power disc brakes. A tubular space frame provides the rigidity. Stainless steel exhaust snakes its way to the side exits. Drive-Ability This car ignited immediately to a thunderous roar only a V10 can produce. Tightly strapped into the cockpit, I put it through its paces, and it responded very well. It handles like it's on rails, and one needs to be gentle with the accelerator or the rear wheels will get very happy. Lots of V10 power, and a smooth sports car like ride. Even neater was when the top was off it is a whole different experience, and a good one! 1 Owner, meticulous records, well cared for, and you can expect nothing but excellence from this machine. Love the yellow, and its nowhere near mellow. Love the 10 popper, it's definitely a show stopper, and love the space age body, it allows curves to be produced that are aerodynamic and certainly not shoddy.
