Here we have a RARE 1968 Dodge Polara Convertible.
Great project for restore, or to cruise crusty as-is.Parts are worth MORE then starting bid!
I was going to redo this car, expecting to put it into the body shop 2 years back, and then changed careers. It's too sad and too good to sit here, so it needs to go to someone who will regularly drive it or restore it.
It has NO AC - I drove it as a winter car. Regularly took long country road trips.
This vehicle had a 1990's restoration and spent most of its life since then in Citrus county Florida. 383 big block Motor still runs great and 727 transmission shifts great as well.I installed a new AGM battery a while back, also replaced the fuel tank, fuel pump etc in tank and ran a new hard line properly up to the front.
The top was replaced 3 years ago and is still in great shape (The Top cost MORE then the starting bid!)Has some rust as pictured. Worst rust in passenger footwell behind drivers side. I washed this car off every month or so and noticed water coming in from the window seal I figured the floor would be wet - it wasn't and noticed the soft rust through spot there.
The radiator was re-cored with 3 rows. Points replaced with Pertronix electronic unit. Original points included. Lots of MISC extra parts. 17" HURST Wheels and descent tires.Also including Manuals as pictured. The Wheel center caps pictured go to a set of 15" American Racing style wheels and tires that also come with the car. Lots of misc parts.
Will come with convertible top oil, some hoses, and a Fluid-matic pump with instructions for refilling the hydraulics for the top. The drivers side pump does leak a bit and makes the top go up a bit slowly though does work.Comes with a boot for the top that does have a tear though in descent "serviceable" shape. Would make at the very least a good template for a new one.
I did put in all LED headlights which are AMAZING at night. I will include the incandescent lights in box if that is your preference for looks.The fuel gauge does not work and it is a rheostat in the dash that has failed, and is common to fail. Somewhere around here I have a digital one to replace it with. If I do not find it by the time the car is sold I will mail it to the purchaser when it is found.
