Description of 1965 Dodge Coronet |
1965 Dodge Cornet 440 Sedan in good condition, drives well, automatic transmission shifts smoothly. Power steering with drum brakes all around. 225 CID engine (the model of this Coronet is a 440, that is not the engine size). I’m not that knowledgeable on these but I’ve been told that the motor is not original to the car, it appears to possibly be from the early to mid-seventies, however the mileage listed is how it was sold to me and is in agreement with the mileage on the title. At some point in the past the car has had a re-paint to the original Medium Turquoise Poly color. Paint shows well however there are some body issues listed below and shown in the pictures. Structurally the car is in good condition, frame and undercarriage are in good condition as are the fenders, rocker panels, and door jams. Though the car has some body issues as described, it does not suffer the typical older Mopar issues. The car is a nice old cruiser, not fast at all, it is not a muscle car, it is not a show car. Just an old survivor that can be driven as I did or can be improved, updated, or restored. This is a great way to get an older Mopar on a blue-collar budget and enjoy. I have given the condition items that I have repaired/replaced. Though not all original, for a 55 year old unmolested car, it retains much of its originality. I have tried to describe and picture everything I know to be wrong with this car. I welcome any and all questions and will answer them as fast as possible and to the best of my ability. Good: ·Re-Paint shows and shines well, not the original paint and I have no idea when it was painted, but it is the original Medium Turquoise Poly Color ·Front and back seats are in very good condition except seam split on top corners of front seat ·Carpeting is in very good condition ·Frame, floors, rockers, door jams and fenders are all in very good condition ·Trunk has been refinished and is in very good condition ·Engine starts right up and runs well, can sometimes have a small vibration when car is stopped such as at a red light, goes away upon acceleration. ·Fresh oil change with Lucas 10W40 Classic Car Oil and a Wix filter ·New Wix air filter. ·New (clear) fuel filter ·New power steering pump ·New belts ·Dash is in very good condition ·Headliner it in good condition, has a few small holes but nothing that requires any attention ·Original AM Radio, works but is barely audible (Speaker?) ·Package Tray is in very good condition ·All exterior lights (Headlights, park lights, taillights, brake lights, signal lights, horn) All work ·The Coronet was inspected when I bought the car in June, it was rejected for a bad ball joint and an upper control arm bushing, both were replaced, and the car passed inspection. Issues: ·Has a small pinhole leak at top right (driver's side) of radiator, not a major issue.·Bottom of both quarter panels were repaired in the past (poorly done, see pics) does not affect drivability ·Small bubbles in some areas, mainly quarter panels and lower doors ·Bottom of doors have some rust but not a serious issue ·Driver’s door does not open from the outside, had replaced outer handle but didn’t work, was told that the hinge pin is the cause and needs to be replaced, all other doors work perfectly ·Trunk lock has been replaced; it jiggles around just a little but does work ·Front and back bumpers in decent shape but have at some point in history been bumped (see pics) ·Two rust spots around edge of back window ·Small dings in rear chrome trim panel ·Speedometer needle bounces, then will settle on the current speed (Odometer works, reads 84,427 Miles) ·Fuel gauge does not work. · Oil light on dash occasionally flickers very faintly, however I have not had any issue with the oil·Signal lights work however they do not turn themselves off, cancelling cam in steering wheel needs to be replace, I have a brand new one which will be included with the car. ·Weather stripping is old and deteriorated, will need to be replaced. I will include a CarCovers.Com Winter Car Cover with the car if indoor storage is not an option. I have never tested it, but I was told by the previous owner to keep the car either covered or garaged until the weather stripping is replaced. ·There appears to be only one bulb behind the dash that lights at night, and it is barely visible, bulbs behind dash will need replacing. --------------------------------The car will come with the following------------------------------------------------- ·Any original parts given to me by the previous owner ·CarCovers.com winter car cover ·Original hubcaps (will also come with the full baby moon hubcaps that I purchased and installed) ·Original build sheet I HAVE THE TITLE FOR THIS CAR ********************************************************************************************************************************************** Due to the weather stripping issue, I would recommend shipping via an enclosed carrier to prevent any damage, car may leak in rain or snow ********************************************************************************************************************************************** If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask and I’ll answer as fast and as clearly as I can.
