Description of 1981 Dodge Other Pickups |
Up for bid is a hard to find1981 Dodge Ram D250 flatbed step side pickup truck. This truck has been a year in refurbishing with a lot of new or updated replacement parts (most OEM). This Ram is powered by a strong 318 with a 4bbl Holley carburetor and breathes out a dual FlowMaster exhaust system. It has a very aggressive sound! The interior was stripped to the metal and any surface rust removed and rust coated prior to new carpeting being installed. The floor pans are solid. The entire interior is in very nice condition with all the door and window seals being replaced. The windshield could stand to be replaced as it has edge frosting (which adds to it's character). The U-joints were just replaced as well as a new battery, PowerMaster alternator, power steering pump and hoses. There are new brakes all around, master brake cylinder, aluminum radiatorand most of the ignition and wiring system. There appears a small oil leak coming from the oil pan which is probably just in need of a new pan gasket. The hood was recently replaced (but not painted). New bright white headlights were also recently installed. The tires are recently new (4) Nitto Terra Grappler G2 (front) LT265/70R17 and (rear) LT285/70R17. The chrome rims are not in great condition as even though solid show a lot of chrome fading and peeling. The front and rear shocks have been replaced (air in the rear). All the interior and exterior lights function normally. The body is mostly solid but as a 41 year old truck there is some rust around the windshield and roof areas (but there is no cab water intrusion). The frame does have some rust issues but nothing that makes this truck unsafe or unstable. The blue cab could use a repaint and a little body work but I wanted to leave it as I acquired it. The "Yellowstone" lettering on the doors have since been removed. Also the small keg in the bed has been removed. It was just a decorativepiece for the thought of making the truck a Rat Rod. It is not the gas tank! The truck has a standard 20 gallon tank under the bed with a new sending unit. The truck does need a new fuel gauge as it has quit working. This truck does NOT have a/c and needs a new gas gauge. This was my daily driver and is very reliable but is a still work in process and getting elderly still has some minor gremlins that show their ugly heads sometimes. (If you ever owned an older dodge truck you will know what I mean). But whatever made need to be addressed is minor. All the major issues have been resolved. This truck is a head turner and I consistently get requests for pictures to be taken of it! It's a truck model that is highly sought after and a real one of a kind! NO RESERVE! THE HIGHEST BIDDER OVER $5000.00 WINS IT!! Pick up or shipping is entirely the responsibility of the winning buyer. I will try and be as flexible as possible to ensure an easy transition. |
