Description of 1946 Dodge Other |
Up for sale is a 1946 Dodge D-24 Business Coupe. This car is a daily driven car built in a late 40's Southern California custom tradition. It is an original three window coupe that now has a good list of custom modifications to give it the correct look and feel of an auto from that era. The list of mods includes; - Chopped top (3 1/2" in front 4" in rear) Original rear window laid down. Rain gutters were retained to keep a "factory" look - Custom hand made grill. Nickel plated. - Narrowed 49 Chevy front bumper with reshaped and molded valance area - Narrowed 49 Chevy rear bumper - Original 49 Chevy tail lights - Nosed hood - Brake light shaved from decklid - Custom smoothed rockers - Handmade skirts - Unity spotlights. Suspension- The front is an S-10 clip stepped at the firewall 4" with a manual steering box. The rear end is Ford Explorer with new Chassis Engineering 3" de-arched leaves relocated to the inside of the frame. The frame is notched for clearance and there is a two inch block for adjustment. There are air shocks in back also. Engine- 84' Chevy 305 with a new cam and new Felpro complete gasket kit new Edelbrock carb new water pump new alternator new fuel pressure regulator and gauge HEI dist and custom air cleaner. The radiatoris anew aluminum Speedway unit electric fan with adjustable thermostat. This motor is a great running motor that was freshened up and some new parts added. Everything listed as new was actually done two years ago this summer. The engine probably could use rings sometime as it puffs a little smoke when it starts from oil gathering in the cylinders but runs great other wise. I have no plans of a rebuild at this time. Trans is a 350 turbo automatic New driveshaft and U-joints Interior- Basically stock original seat beautiful wheel three speed shifter retained for looks now selects auto trans 54 Pontiac door trim pieces gauges and Kenwood CD Receiver with USB interface in lockable glove box. Alpine speakers in rear deck. Body- all new floors front to back. The car had no rust being originally from Texasbut the suspension required most of the floors to get cut up so it was decided to do all new floors and trans tunnel. The exterior was basically a rust free body with some dents and dings. I drove this car in bare metal for a year before starting any bodywork thenvery limited filler and sprayed with an etching primer then covered witha Nason sealer. New front and rear window rubber too. Tires are Coker 6.00-16 Firestones on original 46 rims. This car is a great driver that turns heads everywhere it goes andis only for sale to fund another project. I have spent a lot of time behind the wheel whether driving to work (70 miles round trip) or going to shows like the Lonestar Roundup (2000 miles round trip) and I never am disappointed. It has it's share of rattlescreaks and groans but it is not a trailer queen. This car was built to drive and is being improved constantly. There are a few things that need to be fixed or installed but is not hindering enjoying this car. The gas gauge quit and there are no wipers installed. The drivers door also sags a little but still shuts easily. I have keys to lock doors trunk and glovebox. If you would like more info please contact me at 636-978-1996. I offer no warrenty and buyer assumes allshipping costs. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Thankyou for looking! |
