Description of 1958 Edsel Corsair 4 door Hardtop |
1958 Edsel Corsair four door hardtop. Our family purchased this car used from a Chrysler/Plymouth dealer in Spokane Washington in June 1963. Drove it for a number of years then parked it inside after purchasing a newer vehicle. Truly a survivor car with original paint and totally original condition. Odometer is accurate at 86. 28 original miles. A total of 5. 80 Corsair Edsels were produced in this body style. It was made at the Los Angeles plant on November 19. 1957. The plant ceased production on November 21. 1957. just two days after this car was assembled. This plant made the fewest Edsels. This car came with the 410 Cubic Inch Engine with 475 pounds of torque. This car has a two tone all vinyl interior. According to research and data code this was to have a light green vinyl/medium green mesh B cloth interior. I believe the all vinyl interiors were only in the convertibles. Since that plant was closing and needed to get these cars finished. I believe they installed whatever they had that would work. This makes this a very rare combination. The car was brought out of storage and freshened up to start and drive. The only problem after sitting for a number of years is that the push button automatic seems to throw the circuit breaker in the unit when shifted into gear. It has been gone through but still is not working correctly. We disconnected the lever to the transmission so we could drive the car. This is something that would need some attention to. Interior is in extremely good condition. considering it is 56 years old. Being inside most of its life paid off. Door panels are very good as you can see in the pictures. The padded dash foam has collapsed over the years. Small amount of rust in each of the rear quarters as can be seen by the photos. Original hood ornament is still on the car. One tail light is broken on the end and I noticed in a picture that I took in 1964 it was broken at that time. My parents never bothered to replace it. Some of the options for this car are: 2 tone paint. padded dash and sun visors. rocker panel mouldings. front and rear bumper guards. and backup lights. This car is being offered for sale locally and we reserve the right to end auction early if reserve has not been met. If our reasonable reserve has been met we will sell the car to the highest bidder. Buyer responsible for payment within one week and responsible for pickup or arrange for the car to be picked up. United States and Canadian sales only. No over sea sales will be accepted. Car is located 35 miles north of Spokane. Washington and have a clean title in my name. Vehicle is sold as is with no warranties. Welcome to inspect vehicle at any time by notification. Any questions you are free to contact me at (509) 589-0239. or by email. Thank you for looking. This was my fathers favorite car and he passed away four years ago and we were not sure what the family was going to do with it. It is time for someone else to enjoy it. Buy yourself something very unique. On Dec-05-14 at 17:18:07 PST. seller added the following information:The car does have power steering. Not rust in the floorboards or the trunk area. Car was undercoated maybe since new. White headliner has no rips or tears and in excellent shape. All door panels are in extremely good condition with no rips or tears. |
