Description of 1966 Lotus Other 2 Door |
I have owned this 1966 Lotus Cortina Mark 1. Series II (Airflow) BA74EE50027(EE code indicates that this was made in December 1965). since 1991 and it has been my project in waiting since then. but time and other priorities have decided that this car must go to fund other projects!! It has always been kept in dry storage. and has been in Colorado all its life. The extremely dry climate has preserved everything and it has no structural rust problems whatsoever. When we first acquired the car some 25 years ago our plans were to keep everything as original as possible. We started the refurbishment by installing new carpets. Unfortunately this is as far as we got. our enthusiasm waned and it has sat in our barn since then. This is a relatively well preserved car overall. with original paint and fading green flash. Despite some signs of age it is still a fine example of a 50 year old Lotus Cortina. There are some very small blemishes where the paint has chipped a little and shows minor surface rust but nothing structural. The previous owner had the car for many years and during this time had participated in some autocross events. which was when. apparently. the fenders were rolled. There are a couple of cracks in the fascia and the instrument binnacle (minor). and some damage to vinyl of the back of the rear seat (covered in black tape) and a small tear in the back seat base. The front seats also have some small splits and the roof lining has 2 small areas of damage. The mileage on the odometer shows 45. 55 miles and judging from the general condition of the car. I believe this to be reasonably correct. I have tried to describe this car as honestly and accurately as possible. Please come and personally inspect the car before bidding. let me know if I can add any more details or pictures. This car is listed in the "Lotus Cortina Register" in the UK and I believe there is no doubt that this is one of the cars that "came down the ramp at Cheshunt". which makes the car a very collectable classic. The car is "As is. Where is". A deposit of $500. 00 by PayPal is required within 48 hours of the close of bidding and the balance due within 7 days by bank transfer. The seller can assist in arranging shipping including delivering the car to a US port for overseas transportation if required. at buyers cost. |
