Description of 1980 Ferrari Testarossa 1986 |
eBay is not recognizing the non-US market VIN so I had to put 1980 just to list but it a 1986/87. I ran my own Autocheck report which is spotless and available for your review. I wasn't sure Ebays Autocheck would work at the time of listing since EBay didn't recognize the non- US VIN. Up for your consideration is a pristine 1986/87 Ferrari Testarossa. As your may already know this is one of the last of the Ferraris that were built by hand. The Testarossa is built on the same tubular chassis that Ferrari built their formula one cars of the era. The body is aluminum over the tubular steel frame which of coarse has no rust and is as clean as can be. The exterior is flawless not a chip, scratch scrap or blemish of any kind.. The paint is a 10 out of 10 and that's rare for me as I can usually find something that doesn't qualify as a 10 on most collector cars. I am a collector not a dealer. I am a Porsche guy but have enjoyed this car and now it's time for someone else to have a turn. The mechanicals of this car have maintained with loads of documents and we all know how important that is with a Ferrari. The documentation goes back to the letter approving the car for importation into NYC. Service docs. Extending from 1988 to date. There is no history for accidents on this vehicle. The previous owner had some paint work done on the hood and front fascia to make the car perfect and free on any rock chips or imperfections. I have the receipts and there was more spent taking care of any imperfection than most spend to have a whole care painted. The paint work is to he highest standard and I'm hard to please when it comes to paint. Very interested as this car is not your normal run of the mill Testarossa. This car was built for the middle eastern market per the VIN number. It never make to Saudi Arabia where most the Middle Eastern cars were send. This car was imported to NYC 12/1986 per the paperwork as a new car. That being said this car has the desirable European side marker, headlamps as well as an odometer in km. This makes this Testarossa very unique in the market place. This car has been documented from the very beginning as a 1987 including title service paperwork and so on. The car was built 10/1986 and the VIN is decoded as this car being a 1986 however as stated all written documentation indicated 1987. I knew this when I purchased the car and have continued to note it as a 1987 since that's the way it has been documented. It didn't matter to me with the car being the fine example that it is. Take the time to checkout red-headed.com to decode the VIN and discover the differences in the different models and designations. Digging into the old records and carefully going over them it looks like when the car came into the US 11-12/1986 US customs listed it as 1987 and from then on it stuck. Previous owner financed it and even tilted it as an 87. The NADA value for a car like this in excellent condition is $ 141,400.00 and the value is the same whether it is a 1986 or 1987 per NADA. Of coarse it goes without say it's numbers all match. Car is insured for 140k. Documented services recently include :30k engine service 1/2014 @ 25,735 miles $4742.00Manual transmission complete rebuild with new gear stacks and synchros 1/2014 @ 25,735 miles $ 15,957.00Clutch replacement, new plug, distributors, wires, input shaft bearing, main bearing, all belts hoses and clamps, new starter, rebuild water pump, @ 25,735 miles $10,260.00Paint work $4,600.00Re-dye interior $775.00After market exhaust adds to the 12 cylinder engine note without being too loud. OEM Exhaust included.Tires are good and the fluids are all up to date. The engine doesn't burn any oil. Oil and filter just changed. The odometer is in kilometers so I have calculated just under 27,350 miles. Brakes are very good and pads are great. This car has the coveted knockoff wheels. I have the receipts to support all of the work done from 2014 to present and receipts for previous services dating back to 1988. Extras included: Original tool kit. Aluminum billet tool to remove the knock off wheels. Original exhaust good condition. Multi-volume Ferrari repair manual set. Ferrari Testarossa sales brochure. Ferrari service CD. Original owners manual in leather bound pouch. Full disclosure : I didn't get to 1660+ feedbacks without having a negative by not being completely honest. The driver seat bolster has been touched up with dye that is not an exact match depending on the lighting it's not terribly noticeable. Look at the pics. The lens on the passage side fog lamp is cracked but not easily noticed unless you are looking for it. I didn't replace it as it didn't bother me. The A/C stopped working after the engine out service was completed. All of the a/c equipment is install and it appears to be an electrical issue. The fuse for the a/c blows when the a/c system is turned on. The display lights up and you can adjust the blower levels and I can feel some cool air coming out then it blows the fuse. It didn't bother me because the windows are down when I drive the car because I just love the sound of this car. If it's hot enough to need the a/c the car doesn't leave the climate controlled garage. I don't have to sell this car and am not in a financial bind so while I feel the reserve is very reasonable for a Testarossa of this caliber I'm not giving it away. Please don't bid if you can't afford it. This is not a game. I do have several shipping contacts that I have used for some of my other cars that are very trustworthy and reasonable for enclosed shipping. I can't get quotes prior to auction end for everyone so you will need to have an idea of shipping on your own. I will provide the contacts to the winning bidder. I have no problem with a PPI however this needs to be done prior to the end of the listing not after you have won. The PPI will need to be completed at my residence I'm not going to transport this car hours away to have it inspected This example has to be one of the best available for sale it has it all the perfect cosmetics and meticulously maintained. Feel free to email with any question just make you have read the entire description. TYOn Aug-01-16 at 18:32:38 PDT, seller added the following information: Several of the questions I've gotten are in regards to the passive restraint auto seat belts. This car being a Middle East designation car does not have the auto seat belt. That is another reason I bought this car because I did not want to have to deal with the passive restraint system it's a night mare and very expensive to fix a buddy of mine had a Testarossa with the system and it as always costing him $$$$$ and never worked correctly. They are most common in the 1988 + 89 models. |
