1981 FERRARI 308 GTSIUp for you consideration is a uniqueEuro 308 having the rare Euro spoiler and special order 16 inch three piece wheels. Accident free red with black. This examplewas imported into California in 1981 and remained as such until about 8 years ago when it was relocated to Arizona. Only a couple months after entering Arizona, the engine failed. The $36,000 Ferrari repair center quote was declined by the insurance company and the owner paid off. After sitting for 8 years, the 41,000 mile car has been returned to California and has a California title again. It was just given a thoroughly serviced replacement engine. The original Euro block is included in the sale, preserving matching numbers for your investment. Other than the engine and radio, its an all original car.
Over 13k was just spent on service items before the engine was installed, which includes but not limited to: cam timing adjustment, new valves, valve adjustment, valve guide seal replacement, cam seals, timing belts, timing tensioner bearings, accessory belts, water pump, coolant hoses, coolant flush, fuel injectors, fuel pump, fuel accumulator, in line fuel filter, in tank fuel screen, fuel distributor, ignition distributor caps, ignition rotors, ignition wires and extenders, spark plugs, alternator, battery, starter, engine oil, engine filter, trans axleoil, clutch, throw out bearing, pressure plate, pilot bearing, driver's side e-brake caliper rebuilt and the list goes on... A lot of time and money spent on mechanicals.
The engine runs strong with lots of power. Paint and interior are original having a patina as expected for cars of this age with a chip here and there. A few odds and ends need updating. These are the fun things to tinker with that can be done by anyone. The major and expensive work is all done. Needed:This Euro never came from the factory with the rear muffler valance, which shows the muffler. The current muffler is not the Euro muffler. This was just what we had on hand. It should be replaced with a small sport muffler which fits up under the rear luggage compartment and will greatly improve appearance. We can assist you in sourcing a muffler of your choosing. The passenger window is slow. The air condition hasn't been charged because it is unknown where this vehicle will ultimately end up and what type of Freonis desired. The radio needs proper connection. Custom rear window speaker boxes were left untouched as they were a perfect fit, however the speakers inside probably need updating. The leather around the e-brake handle is torn which is typical and the center console has a hole where an accessory was fitted at one time. A little crack is in the leather on the instrument dome. There's a small spot of surface rust at the bottom of one door, but the rest of the vehicle is rust free. All of the hard to find smog equipment is included. The catalytic converters are installed but empty. If your a Californiabuyer and smog is an issue you will need to contact us to assist in that.
