Description of 1989 Ferrari Mondial |
We are pleased to offer 1989 USA model Ferrari Mondial t Cabriolet s/n 82431. From new in Rosso Corsa FER 300/9 (Ferrari Red) finished with a Beige leather interior with beige carpets and red throw-carpets. This Freshly-serviced Mondial "t" is as-good-as-they-get with 26,008 miles, comes with a no-questions carfax and has been treated to a full 30k engine-out cam belt service, a water pump rebuild, new coolant and heater hoses, a full fluid flush, new front hood shocks and a full Safety inspection, all completed only two weeks ago and within less than 100 miles. When introduced in March of 1989, the lower case "t" referred to the new transversally mounted gearbox, mated with the 348's longitudinally mounted and fast revving 295 hp 3.4 liter engine, with both combining for excellent performance, and has a wonderful exhaust sound through the rpm range. The engine-gearbox combination allowed the engine to be mounted lower in the chassis for better weight distribution, resulting in a nimble handling package. Needless to say, the "t" was the fastest of the Mondials, with a 0-60 time of 5.6 Seconds and a top speed of 158 mph. Visually, the t's new rectangular engine air intakes, 328-style door handles and retractable headlights with rectangular lenses were the obvious changes. The interior featured a more modern dash, center console, redesigned front seats, and the rear seats could be folded down for more luggage space. Power steering makes The mondial "t" light and easy to drive, and powerful abs brakes haul It down from speed. Mondial t Cabriolet s/n 82431 has just arrived in our warehouse after completing a 30k service by Dugan Enterprises, Oceanside CA 92056. This Mondial was inspected and completed a major engine-out service including r&i engine and tranny, steam clean the engine assembly, r&i valve covers and adjust valve clearances, refinish valve covers, overhaul timing belt tensioner assemblies and replace the tensioner bearings. New camshaft seals and o-rings were fitted. The cam timing was set, new accessory belts were installed, a new water pump seal and gaskets and a new thermostat were installed and all new coolant and heater hoses were fitted. New spark plugs were installed, the brake fluid was flushed, a new clutch line was fitted and the hand brake was adjusted. The intake manifold was refinished, a new rear valence was installed and the rear interior panels were sent out for re-upholstery. The carpet, seats and center console were cleaned. A new rear view mirror switch and new front hood struts and trunk lid lock were installed. The service included a complete safety inspection and test drive. The total invoice was $17,715.89 and the mileage was 25,990. The Mondial name came from the French word for global, referring back to 1952 and 1953 F1 Championship winning 500 Mondial, reviving the name in honor of Ferrari's 1975, 1976, 1977, and 1979 World Championship F1 wins! Introduced as a 'practical' Ferrari, the Mondial is a genuine long-distance four-seater, with sufficient rear head and leg-room for children and smaller adults. Access was easy thanks to the long single doors, and the "t" Cabriolet has great all-round visibility. Indeed, the Mondial cabriolets was the only four-seat, rear-mid-engined, full convertible production car ever built. Styling was by Pininfarina, and the Mondial t engine and transmission were mounted inline, like the earlier 288 GTO and then-current F40. The "t" featured many all-new systems including power steering, a 3-position electronically controlled suspension, standard ABS brakes and a dry-sump oil system. Only 379 Mondial "t" Cabriolet's were built for the US and Canadian markets. The body on Mondial t Cabriolet s/n 82431 is unusually straight and the red paint is in excellent condition for a 28 year old and 26k mile Ferrari. The interior is finished in unusually nice tan leather. The door panels, carpets and dash are also all in excellent condition. The door windows and rear windows all function as new and the A/C blows cold. The tan top is in good condition. The Mondial t Cabriolet is unquestionably the Ferrari buyer's bargain for those who want to go topless or take the kids or friends along for the drive. 1989 Mondial t Cabriolet s/n 82431 comes with the recent services invoices and a clean Carfax, e-mail us for copies.
