Description of 1980 Ferrari 308 GTSi --

1980 Ferrari 308 GTSi 58,216 Miles Rosso Corsa / Red Leather Chicago Car Club is pleased to present this 1980 Ferrari 308GTSi! VIN: ZFFAA02A8A0032219 PLEASE SEE VIDEO ACCOMPANYING LISTING We purchased this ‘80 308GTSi from a local gentleman, the second owner, who had owned the car since the late 1990s. As he had recently acquired a Porsche Turbo daily-driver, his desire to keep the Ferrari dwindled. As it sits, this 308 is a well-preserved example that presents extremely well inside, out, and underneath. While the car... will come with its original books, manual, spare, and roadside kit, unfortunately we have very little for documented service history. Since taking possession of the car we have given it a thorough general inspection, flushed fluids, and begun to tack on mileage. Belts all appear to be in good shape by visual test, not brittle or dry, but we cannot be positive when the last complete belt service was done. In its current state, the car runs and drives very well, and has inspired confidence in the few hour-long drives we have done in it. While it’ll be up to the next owner to decide when to do a proper servicing, we would certainly not consider it to be a pressing need. We’ve checked compression, and the findings were very strong. Readings were 170, 170, 160, 170, 170, 180, 170, 170 across the 8 cylinders. Exterior: - Please see the video accompanying the listing, as that provides a detailed look at the car and shows close-ups of all blemishes under direct sunlight. - The car has seen one repaint in its life, painted in it’s original Rosso Corsa. We love the Rosso Corsa over red leather combination of this car. Again, please defer to the video for blemishes, but there are a couple very small chips scattered about the car. - Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. - Wheels show no curb rash or damage, just very slight signs of age. - Yokohama AVS tires have about 80% tread remaining. - Pop-up headlamps are functional, as are all other lights and signals. - Black targa top is in excellent shape, and is an easy one man job to remove. Interior: - The interior is extremely nice. Seats show very, very little wear. The outer bolster on the driver’s seat has a couple small markings from sliding down into the car, but no through tears, burst seams, scuffs, or anything of the sort. - All gauges are functional, as is the fan/heat/defrost. Air conditioning kicks on but does not blow cold. Power windows are functional but move a bit slowly. Blaupunkt radio is not functional. Under the Hood / Underbody: - Underneath the car is quite clean. There is one dent which looks to be from a poorly-judged jacking point, but the car is very nice and dry underneath. Absolutely no rust, surface or through, with the exception of a deteriorating heat shield around the exhaust (can see this inside the passenger rear wheel in the underbody photos). - The car runs and drives very nicely. Always starts right up first turn, idles cool and steady, pulls smoothly through the gears with no hesitation or stuttering, tracks straight, and brakes well. A very confidence-inspiring driver. Steering is tight and direct, and the exhaust note is fantastic. Really the only tendency of any concern is a bit of a tough time downshifting into second gear. The synchro seems to be weak. It takes some real finesse to get down into second at speed. Aside from that, shifts are nice and smooth. Clutch feels very healthy.
