Description of 1979 Fiat Other |
Offered for sale is my 1979 Fiat X1/9...we are the third owners of this car and it has been in our collection since December, 000. The car has 109,562 original miles. This is an Arizona car and has been kept in a climate controlled garage and driven only a few miles a year to various car club outings and shows. This Fiat has been repainted one time in its life (prior to our ownership) to its original green color. The paint shines well but has a few small chips/dings/etc. from use as well as two small bubbles under the paint (as pictured) on the passenger door. These bubbles were there when we purchased the car and have not changed over the 15 years we've owned the Fiat. The interior upholstery and carpet and body show as an older restoration with some sun fading from time and usage. The dash is covered with a mat and the seats are in great shape with no rips or tears in the upholstery. The car does have a few problems, ostly electrical issues that need to be sorted out. We are simply moving our time and resource to other cars in our collection and have decided that it's time to part with this very nice Fiat. Issues that are known include: gas gauge not working (tank sending unit), eadlamps light but do not raise and lower automatically, he speedometer cable stopped working during our last drive, ut the miles are actual as stated on the clean Arizona title, he clock blinks odd shapes but no discernable numbers and the radio only works now and then. As with any older Italian car, t will drip a little oil occasionally, ut nothing serious. The battery holds a charge, ut probably should be replaced as it's a few years old. I'm sure there may be other minor issues with the car as well that the new owner will discover. The good things about this Fiat. The car starts and runs well, oesn't smoke and uses no oil. We recently replaced all four brake calipers, otors and hoses; the tires are new and have 50 miles on them; the timing belt and tensioner were replaced last year; all fluids were recently changed including the engine and gearbox oil. The carb is two years old. The windshield was replaced recently and only shows minor wiper scuffing from use; both windows roll up and down smoothly. Included in the sale are four matching, ery nice Bertone aluminum road wheels with no scuffs or scrapes; a spare 5 speed transmission for parts; miscellaneous bits and pieces and parts acquired over the years and most of the service records from the previous owners. Please note...as you will see in the pictures of the motor compartment, he previous owner had most of the emissions equipment removed from the car including the catalytic converter. This isn't a problem for us as the car is registered and insured in Arizona as an antique/classic and is exempt from emissions inspection. HOWEVER, DO NOT HAVE ANY OF THE ORIGINAL EMISSIONS EQUIPMENT. What this car isn't — this is not a Pebble Beach Concourse X1/9. If you are looking for a perfect, int condition 1979 Fiat X1/9, lease don't bid on this car. What this car is — a very nice, olid, unning example of a nearly 40 year old classic Italian car that shows well, urns heads, as been driven and is fun to drive. Personal inspection and test drives are encouraged prior to bidding. Shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder and will originate from my driveway. I've tried to be as completely honest about the car as I can and all sales are final. No international bidding. A non-refundable PayPal deposit of $500 is due at the close of auction with the balance due within 5 days. Starting bid of $2,000 with no reserve. Good Luck! |
