Description of 1981 Fiat 124 Spider |
For Sale: 1981 Fiat Spider 124 Convertible Automatic – 1 Owner Colorado Car The Fiat 124 Spider was made from 1967 through the 80s when Pinnifarina took over the production. The styling has weathered really well – the car looks great from any angle, and looks like a classic sports car. This example is a 1 owner (actual little old lady) Colorado Springs car from new. No rust I can find anywhere. It has been driven easily and taken care of, garaged it's whole life. It is the last version of the Spider, with the larger, fuel injected 2000cc engine that makes more power and low end torque than the earlier smaller-engine versions. This makes it perfectly suited to the little automatic transmission. It starts easily and runs very well. It accelerates surprisingly quickly and shifts firmly and well. An easy to drive classic that has been maintained well, and is poised to be worth more over time. Compared to other vintage sports cars and convertibles, the Fiat is way ahead of it's time. It has 4 wheel disc brakes, fuel injection, independent suspension, and an actual back seat, even if legroom back there is a bit cramped. The top works well and can be operated from the drivers seat. Parts are easily available from several suppliers, and they are cheap to insure and easy to drive. Compared to a 1970s British convertible, this is much more advanced in every category. This one drives really, really well – the shocks, ball joints, steering and brakes are all really nice and tight. It has brand new tires, the top is excellent and the interior is very nice. The seats (under the sheepskin covers) have some wear, but no tears. The dash has a few small cracks under the cover. Everything works – from all the lights inside and out, to the heater/defroster, the radio, etc. It has 131k miles, but drives like it is much younger - thanks to the caring ownership. You can find cheaper examples that are rusty or need lots and lots of work, and end up paying much more overall. You can also find ones that aren't as clean or well-cared for as this one listed for a much higher price. I'd just like to sell this one quickly so have it priced attractively. I am located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and can pick someone up from the Colorado Springs airport, or work with your shipper to help get the car shipped. I am happy to show the car to buyers or inspectors, or take more photos, etc for buyers. Storage for more than 1 week after auction end will incur storage fees of $50/week or partial week. |
