Description of 1976 Ford Bronco

You can always tell when an old vehicle has led a good life. They have a unique feel that a beater can never duplicate and mechanically they're always A-1, erhaps with a few upgrades to improve their performance along the way. This 1976 Bronco still works well as a daily driver or even an off-road toy that's still plenty potent in the dirt. We're guessing that no 1976 Bronco ever had white paint this vivid and it looks fantastic. As a clean, ehicle hailing from the deserts of New Mexico, ll the sheetmetal is in great shape, nd if this one has been off-road, t hasn't been abused or bashed. The paint offers fantastic gloss and a few custom touches such as the faux Boss 429-style hood scoop, nd it appears that it has a set of rear fender flares that were added in the past, nother interesting part of its history. Of note, t does not appear that there ever were front fender flares on this particular truck, erhaps another link to the wild '70s in which it was born. The removable hardtop is contrasting black and white and shows no cracks or yellowing, nd all the brightwork, ncluding the stamped grille and simple bumpers, s in excellent shape. This truck has not been extensively modified but somehow it looks bigger, ider, nd longer than most other early Broncos and we love the attitude. The interior is handsomely upgraded with a set of front bucket seats from a late-model Ford Explorer wrapped in black seat covers so you can still play in the dirt. Gray carpets have been added and they're clean and show only light fading, o you know it's been well-maintained since its rejuvenation. A custom Grant GT steering wheel and a Kenwood AM/FM/CD player add to the updated driving experience and there's a tachometer strapped to the steering column. There's also a column-mounted shifter for the C4 3-speed automatic transmission along with a floor shifter for the 2-speed transfer case while you're off-roading. The rear bench is also upholstered in cloth instead of vinyl, o this Bronco definitely has an upscale feel inside and it's not limited to front seat passengers. Even the cargo bay is carpeted, ndicating that making this Bronco feel civilized was a primary goal during the build. The 302 cubic inch V8 was the sole engine choice in 1976, nd it's the right one. With plenty of torque and a neat V8 sound that's unexpected from the trucklet, t moves easily through traffic, nd with the low range afforded by the two-speed transfer case, t'll crawl along barely off idle without complaint. It's upgraded with the usual bolt-ons like an Edelbrock carburetor and HEI-style ignition system, s well as some chrome dress-up parts to make it sparkle. There's a big aluminum radiator up front and a set of long-tube headers feeding a dual exhaust, o the sound is more 5.0 Mustang than off-road truck. The transmission shifts nicely and the original axles are full of highway-friendly gears so this is a truck you can use regularly. A mild lift kit has given it impressive off-road prowess, nd while it's not sparkling clean underneath, t definitely looks loved and well-maintained, hich is the whole point. Stylish American Racing wheels are fitted with big 33x12.50-15 Goodyear all-terrain tires that really give it a great profile.Early Broncos were collectable the moment the bigger 1978 model rolled out, nd this one looks like a lot of fun.
