Description of 1986 Ford Thunderbird ELAN

1986 Ford Thunderbird Elan .... RUST-FREE CAR .... 66,000 original miles, DULT OWNED .... No oil leaks in engine or trans, o coolant leaks, o fuel leaks .... vehicle is 100% ready to go, HERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR! All the work has been done for you already! Car is a blast to drive, ou can fly in and drive it anywhere right now. So, hy am I selling it? Am I crazy? No. I was misdiagnosed last year with Multiple Sclerosis, nd had a gorgeous 1989 Mustang GT convertible; with the top down and sun beating on my head, t made me very sick, nd it broke my heart to sell that car. Sold it and bought this one to replace it. I spent $5000-plus getting it to where it is today....and I've (finally) been cleared of MS (it was a severe Vitamin D deficiency instead. Got my health issues handled where I'm no longer ill in the sun, o I want my convertible back)! This is THE ONLY reason I'm selling this beautiful Thunderbird.
Here's what's been done to it since I bought it last year:
4 New Cobra R style Anthracite wheels and chrome lugs
4 New Uniroyal Tiger Paw Z rated tires (225/55ZR17 .... 17"x 9"), ith about 3000 miles on them.
New Stabilitrak struts and shocks, lus alignment
New Hedman Mustang-style shorty headers
Custom-bent stainless steel dual exhaust
New Fram fuel filter (on frame rail)
New serpentine belt and idler pulley
New water pump, adiator and heater hoses, lamps, hermostat and gasket; anti-freeze set for -20 below (car is stored in temp controlled garage)
New K&N cold-air induction (old air box and ducting is included)
New HD battery
New cap, otor, ires and plugs
New window motor, assenger door
Oil and filter changed 1000 miles ago (synthetic blend oil)
Trans serviced; new filter, asket and fluid
Custom dash cover (there are NO CRACKS in dash, t's perfect; I put it on for glare reduction, nd I just like the look)
Custom embroidered Thunderbird floor mats (gave $125 for them, hese aren't el cheapo mats)
Custom-fit cup holder (can be easily removed)
This TBird needs NOTHING. Car has a 3.08 axle, oupled with the AOD trans, t gets 27+ mpg on the highway. It's NEVER been raced or beat on. Never been wrecked. It's a very comfortable car, CE COLD A/C, ower everything, M/FM stereo, ruise, ilt....awesome riding car, andles great, uns and drives like a brand new car. There are NO TEARS/SPLITS/SEAMS COMING APART in the seats, hey're not all worn out, hey're supportive and comfortable....carpeting is in great shape, eadliner is like brand-new....EVERYTHING WORKS, sh tray and lighter never used, ever been smoked in....I put a new Lincoln steering wheel on it which looks and feels/grips much better than the upside-down "V" wheel Ford put on these cars.
I'm a Ford retiree, ho did all of the performance curves on these Thunderbirds, ougars and Mustangs on the test track in Dearborn. I know these cars inside-out, nd I know a good one from a GREAT one. This one is every bit as rust-free and tight as my Turbo Coupe with only 5,600 original miles on it. Seriously. The photos tell the story here.
The ONLY thing I can state as any kind of a "negative", s that the "SERVICE" light intermittently comes on and off....this is from the EGR, 've run the codes. It has no bearing on engine performance or fuel economy, t's strictly for emissions. You can ignore it (recommended) or change the EGR. [Just ignore it, he car runs great.] When you turn on the lights, he "LAMP OUT" idiot light comes on once in a while for a couple seconds, hen goes out. I've pulled every bulb and socket on the car, nd I cannot find a short, bad bulb or any loose connections, nywhere. (I understand this is not uncommon on Fox bodied TBirds.) That's it for "negatives".
I've set a reasonable reserve on it....BUY IT NOW is $8000, nd it's worth every cent. I've got well over $10,000 invested in it, nd if it weren't for my going to get another Mustang GT convertible, his car would not be up for sale. (I have my other TBird, he Turbo Coupe, nd, O - it's NOT FOR SALE.)
Any questions, lease don't hesitate to ask me anything. I've taken plenty of photos to show the near-pristine condition of this car, nderneath it as well as all around. It has the normal stone chips in the front nose pan, ome touch-up paint will take care of those (I just didn't get to them), nd the normal wear/scuffs that 29 year old paint is going to have. It's not perfect, n other words, ut it's very nice. The only "ding" is on the back bumper, assenger side corner, t's a scuff. (Didn't show in the photo I took.) If you have a buffer wheel you could polish the paint up (I don't have one and don't know how to use one)., ut she shines really nice as she sits now.
This is a terrific automobile all the way around, nd I hate to see her go....but, want a convertible more than the 2nd TBird....and the only way I'll get one is to sell one of them. The Turbo Coupe is my no.1 baby, o the Elan is the car that's up for sale....it has a clear Michigan title, ll bills for work performed are included with it.
This car is NOT a dragster, t's NOT been hot-rodded or thrashed in any way, he motor is untouched internally, nd it runs, rives, ides, hifts like a brand-new car, nd you will be thrilled with it, promise. This car was babied before I got it (photos bear that out, he undercarriage is immaculate and was not undercoated), nd it's been babied while in my possession. You won't believe it has 66k on it when you drive it. It's tight, ar from being worn-out, nd will give you years of enjoyment.
NOTE: I took over 50 photos of the car, f you send me your email address thru the listing's "ask seller a question", 'll send them all to you (only 24 allowed here). If you'd like to talk to me about the car or want more information not in the listing, ust send me your phone number and the best time to reach you, nd I'll ring you up.
Payment is to be BANK WIRE TRANSFER or CASH ONLY in person. No checks, o scammers, o money orders, tc. I'll assist with shipping (inside 48 US states only), ut it's your responsibility to set it up and pay for shipping. I can keep it here for you up to 14 days after auction's end/BIN date, ut it will be sitting outside in the weather after that. I'm going to insist on a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT via PayPal within 24 hours of auction's end or BIN.

***** I apologize for the photos not enlarging, Bay has been notified - their system isn't allowing it for some stupid reason (I paid for this so you could see in great detail the true condition of this car), nd they can't give me a satisfactory reason why this has happened, or how long it's going to take them to fix this. As stated above, can send photos directly to you....all I ask is you be a serious buyer and not a "tire kicker". Thanks very much, nd again, apologize for this gaffe.*****
