HISTORY: This 1959 Ford pickup has been one-owner since 1973. It is basically stock except for the exhaust system, heels, ires, aint and air cleaner. The 292 Y-block engine has run well throughout these last 42 years. The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner, &D VW Service, ent, A. Prior to that I was told that it was used as a part chaser for a Tacoma Oldsmobile dealer, hus the damage to the bed from hauling heavy parts. TRANSMISSION: The transmission/overdrive is of questionable condition since it pops out of gear when going downgrade in second gear. The engine will die when in overdrive at cruising speed. It runs OK with overdrive locked-out. There is also an oil leak at the transmission end of the engine that needs attention. PAINT: The truck, riginally vermillion red and colonial white two-tone, as repainted solid red in 1973 by SprayKing, eattle. At that time it was noted that extensive bondo was used on the right front fender. A second repaint was done in 1989 by Earl Scheib in Porsche Bahia Red. The paint condition is not great but looks OK when polished. Hood and hood hinges were "sprung" returning from the paint shop. The hood was not properly closed and a sudden wind caught hood and raised it springing the hood and extending the hinges. Contributes to being difficult to raise. ENGINE/INTERIOR: The carburetor air cleaner was replaced with an after-market chrome unit. A stock air cleaner is included with the truck. The carburetor was rebuilt in 2001. A rebuildable carburetor, erhaps the original, s included with the truck. The header exhaust system was added in 1984. The original cross-over exhaust system (except for the cross-over pipe) will be included with the truck. HEATER DEFROSTER: The heater defroster system is out of the truck ready for re-installation. The heater radiator was re-cored, he case was sandblasted and powder-coated. A spare blower motor is included with the truck. RUNNING GEAR: The chrome 15x7 wheels and Daytona tires were added in 1984. Tires are old but appear to be in good condition; chrome on wheels a little rusty. The differential is a "Ford 9 inch" standard on the truck and was rebuilt in March 2002 by Randy's Ring and Pinion, verett, A. |
