Description of 1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1 |
See Video down below Up for bids is this beautiful Mach 1 Restomod inspired by the Boss 302 Laguna Seca...This car is a totally new build...It was originally started by a talented craftsman up in North Dakota in 2005...He had owned the car since 1999. It was a winter time project for him up until about 2011 when i believe worked stopped because other commitments prevented him from getting back to it...I purchased it from him this past february because i just loved the concept and appreciated the quality work that he put into it and i wanted to see it finished....I'm the type that likes building them more than keeping, aintaining and showing them and it's time to let someone other than me own and enjoy this beauty and i'll move on to the next project...It has always been stored inside....I have a stack of receipts with car This is a real "Q" code close ratio 4 speed staggered shock car 351- 4 bolt main block with a mild cam, orted heads, eep sump oil pan, allory dual point distributor, rand new Holley 625 double pumper carb, delbrock dual plane aluminum intake manifold, delbrock aluminum water pump, ustom air cleaner, ig Super Comp headers, andrel bent 3" exhaust all the way to rear, pipe, brand new Flowmaster mufflers and new hoses and belts... As stated earlier it's a 4 speed with Hurst Competition Plus shifter 9" "N" case rear with 3:25 gears with new bearings, eals etc., rand new Superior axles and new wheel studs on all 4 corners Suspension is all brand new including springs, ontrol arms, hocks, ll bushings, all joints, pindles, ront and rear sway bars,4 wheel discs {Vintage Venom kit on rear utilizing late model Mustang rear discs}, SBC adjustable proportioning valve, new rotors, alipers, arking brake cables, very suspension piece in this car is new aside from the front struts which were fine. Brand new Mustang Cobra Replica wheels and lugs, 7x9 and 17x7, nd brand new 215/55 r17 front and 255/60r17 rear Goodyear Eagle GS-D tires Interior has factory tach, imblow steering wheel that works, rand new VDO oil/water/volt gauges, onsole, ew carpeting, eat upholstery, oor panels and dash pad...new Pioneer DXT-X2769UI remote control stereo with direct iPhone and iPod control, oss amplifier mounted in trunk with 4 new speakers New gas tank, arb dual feed line, olley fuel pump, lip open cap, tainless steel fuel and brake lines and rubber hoses Exterior....This is where it gets interesting A 2005 Mustang grille and headlights were adapted to this car {remember, his project was started just about the time the newer style Mustang came out} and it wasn't just screwed on with sheet metal screws or rivets...And extensive, djustable 3/4" tubular steel frame was was mandrel bent and welded up {with slip joints added to make removal easier} to mount the grille and headlights...The factory 2005 fog lights were made into the signal lights...All the front lights were put on relays to carry the load...A 1969 mustang bumper was sectioned and welded up to fit...The lower gravel deflector is a 1969 mustang also sectioned and butt welded back together...Hand-made lower grille..The hood is brand new with steel professionally welded to extend to the grille. The front tips of the fenders were also metal-worked to fit to finish off the unique look of this car Both doors had their hinges rebuilt In the trunk it is fully carpeted Brand new rear window shade The rear has had 2005 Mustang tailights added...This wasn't a simple matter of pulling the original lights out and screwing these in, his required a complete reworking of the rear of the car, ncluding cutting and reshaping the deck lid, aking new rain gutters, ear body panel and hand making out of steel the 1/4 panel extensions which were welded to the 1/4 panels and smoothed for a seamless look...New rear bumper, ut and welded back together to fit closer to the body The car was originally Gold with a ginger interior but was painted black years ago..I painted it a beautiful black and red urethane. {i would rate it a 9 on a 1-10 scale} ..Any rust this car had was professionally cut out and new metal welded back as factory original. Doors, loor, nd fenders were perfect, eeding nothing .. I have probably a coupla hundred pictures of the car in various stages of the build over the years if there is anything in particular you'd like to see The only knock against the car at this time is although the fuel tank and sending unit is brand new the sending unit must be defective as i can't get the gauge to work...There is 5 volts at the gauge and to the sender but nothing from the sender when checked with and ohmeter, nd the driver side glass has some minor scratches...The guy i bought it from gave me another glass but it was worse than the one in there It will probaly need a wheel alignment...While i gave it a garage alignment {bubble level and a tape measure} it drives nice but could be fine tuned |
