Description of 1968 Ford Other |
1968 Ford Country Sedan 6 Passenger Station Wagon. This car is 100% complete and mostly original. It has been repainted within the last few years (it was done before I owned it) and the body is very straight with no rust. The interior is mostly all original, ut it will need the front seat re-upholstered and the bottom of the back seat re-done. Headliner, nd door panels are in good shape and the dash has 1 crack in the pad. Brand New Carpet, ith Roll-on HNR (Heat and Noise Reducer) Insulation underneath. The engine is a 390 that was recently rebuilt. Casting numbers on the heads are: C6AE 8090R and the block is C6ME which are both very desirable as far as FE engines go. The crank was inspected and polished by a machine shop but left STD size. The cylinders were clean-up honed but also remain the stock bore. The Camshaft, ifters and pushrods were replaced to ensure reliability and performance. The cam is slightly more aggressive than the stock grind. Rocker arms are stock, ut the rocker shafts have been replaced. The heads have been completely re-done with new (stiffer) valvesprings to match the cam and a 3 angle valve job. The engine has an Edelbrock Performer 390 intake manifold and Edelbrock 650 CFM carburetor. The distributor has been upgraded to a HEI-style electronic unit to enhance reliability. A performance Aluminum radiator was also installed and works great. The car runs at a constant 200 degrees regardless of whether it's 30 degrees or 100 degrees outside. The stock FMX transmission has been replaced with a much more reliable (and stronger) C6 Stock exhaust manifolds from a '67 Fairlane GT donor car dump into the original (slightly modified) Fairline H-pipe and Thrush Chambered mufflers Stock 9" Limited Slip rearend with 2.75 gears There's approx 1500 miles on the engine since the rebuild. I built this car to be a reliable daily driver that also packs some performance. The original engine and trans were not with the car when I got it, ut it IS an original a 390/FMX car. |
