Description of 1979 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT

Auto restoration shop offers this 1979 Ford Bronco. This Bronco has undergone an incredible transformation. Thousands have been spent with Ford Racing (The real Ford performance counter) parts. We have a Cobra Jet 460, 5 speed transmission, ¾ drive train swap, ir conditioning, riginal paint body with no rot. This Bronco has 1200 miles on it since the upgrades/restoration was completed. I drive this Bronco at 70mph down the highway pulling 2000 RPM in 5th, finger power steering. Incredible driving/handling vintage 4x4. The motor is a monster, e built the rest of the truck to harness the power of this 550 HP beast. We have the best of both worlds, ncredible torque and horse power with matching drive train, ith a 5 speed that lets you run the highway all day.

MECHANICAL

This motor is based on the Ford Crate 575HP 460. We changed a few things to make it perfect for a 4x4. We stepped down the camshaft for incredible low end torque. Ford aluminum Super Cobra Jet heads with Scorpion roller rockers, he best of the best internals with a premium pump gas friendly compression ratio of 9:8:1. Edelbrock intake, olley 4 barrel carburetor, lectronic ignition with re-curved distributor. L&L ceramic coated headers with o2 bungs. We set the motor up on the computer, t is dialed in perfectly. Aluminum Ford valve covers and aluminum Cobra air cleaner. We estimate 550HP with over 600FT LBS torque. The complete motor costs $11,750. We didn't just drop in a monster motor with stock 79 Bronco drive train (it would not last). New radiator for 1 ton Ford pickup. We have a 5 speed transmission (rebuilt) from a mid 90's Powerstroke diesel with a racing clutch to hold the power, rebuilt NP 205 gear driven transfer case, he rear axle is from the same Powerstroke with a factory trac-lock (Posi). The front axle is the stock Dana 44 housing with upgraded axle shafts and Powerstroke disc front brakes. We now have a true 8 lug ¾ ton drive train. Warn hubs, xles are 4.10 geared, ompletely rebuilt. 33 gallon fuel tank. Custom drive lines and U-Joints built for the power, ront axle has a skid plate, oth axles have sway bars. Skyjacker 4 in suspension lift with a small body lift to clear the 35 in BFG's on vintage aluminum turbine wheels. This type of conversion is costly and takes skill to get it done right. Dual 3 in exhaust with equalizer pipe. The power steering has been upgraded, finger turn. Factory Ford air conditioning, orks great, een converted to modern R134A. I could go on and on listing all the parts, he entire undercarriage has been rebuilt with 1200 miles on all of it.

BODY

The body is 100% original to the truck, riginal paint, 00% rot free. Very hard to find a nice 78-79 rust free original paint Bronco. The paint is original 36 years old, o there are chips and imperfections. We cut/buffed and applied a heavy wax to seal it up to prevent rust from starting. Painting anything is easy, ut pretty damn cool to keep this original paint, love the look. So all the black paint is original with some very minor touch up pen spots, he white top has been removed and re-painted. The interior is in excellent condition, ome of it is original, ome have been replaced with LMC aftermarket parts. Nice new sunroof, ord Racing steering wheel. All the glass and seals are good. New front bezel and grille from LMC. The undercarriage is coated with POR-15 to prevent rust from starting.

This Bronco drives great for what it is, ight and smooth. We spent the money on the drive train, ut the cosmetics look good as well. I've owned several 66-77 Broncos, love them, ut they are getting stupid dollar wise, ow the 78-79 are coming up. Frankly, he 78-79 full size handle and drive much better than the older smaller units. I have not seen a 78-79 Bronco built like this, hope someone will appreciate the dollars and hard work put into this truck, 'm very proud of it. If you are a guy that loves horse power, ut still wants the ability to daily drive, his may be your truck.
