Description of 1956 Ford F-100 |
The cab forward on this truck is from an F250 and the bed is after market. The truck drives nice down the highway at 70MPH. It is mechanically sound and I have driven it on trips a couple of hundred miles in recent years. I feel confident it will have no problem driving to the new owners home without issue. This summer my car was down for a while and I was regularly driving this the 60 mile round trip to work. The engine and trans:It is a 350 chevy from a 1976 impala is what I was told. It was rebuilt by a friend of mine and to use in his jeep.He had two and rebuilt both keeping the one with more torque and selling me this one. It has been in the truck for about 3 years. As far as I know, t is stock inside. It has an edelbrock carb and intake and runs great. It blows oil out of the breather and I don't know why, o I have to add oil from time to time. The trans is a stock turbo 350 as far as I know. I have had the truck 12 years now and the trans has never given me a problem. The rear end:It is a Ford 8 inch and never an issue. Suspension: The frame is boxed in the front and there is a mustang II kit that was put in. It has a Flaming River manual rack. The truck had power steering when I first got it, ut the boot tore and the rack got damaged. I ended up buying this rack that was in it. I was going through a divorce and money was tight at the time. I still have the parts to put power steering back into the truck. I have two power steering racks that will go with the truck that you should be able to make work. The truck pulls to the passenger side slightly when braking. I replaced the discs on both sides and the caliper on the passenger side and it still pulls. Must be the proportioning valve. Ill leave that to the next owner. I have been driving it like that for a while and it isn't a big thing. Rear suspension is stock as far as I know. Never had issues. Wheels and tires:BFG T/A on the front and knockoff BFG T/A on the back(same tread pattern), 35/60/15 front, 95/60/15 rear. American Racing wheels. Paint:The paint is at least 20 years old. It was a pretty good amateurjob when it was done. I see one of two kinds of people interested in the truck: someone who wants to drive it and not worry too much about the paint. That was me. Someone who wants to find something in nice condition, ut put their own touches on it. I have taken pictures of the problem areas, o see the pictures. The truck had a carb fire many years ago on a day I power washed the engine compartment and left the air cleaner off to dry. It flooded and then backfired igniting the gas and peeling the paint on the hood before I could get out and get the hood opened. Rust:The truck was bought by me in Portland Oregon and driven to Wisconsin. The underside of the truck is rust free. There is one spot of rust that was there when I bought the truck. It is above the windshield and pctured. It hasn't changed in the 12 years I have owned the truck. Climate control:Their is an Air-tiques unit installed, ut it has never been completed. A/C was never that important to me, o I never bothered. - Mustang II front suspension-1995 Mustang springs cut down to facilitate ride height- 1971 Impala steering column-1989 Chevrolet pickup bench seat-1975 ford 8 inch rear end- bed mounted gas tank- oak bed with stainless steel mounting strips- smoothed firewall- shaved emblems and door handles- Dakota digital dash- custom tweed interior with scalaps that match outside- Ron FRancis wiring- Air-tiques heat and A/C (needs finishing)- JVC head unit with Diamond Audio speakers and Soundstream amp If you are serious about buying this truck, lease ask questions. I will be happy to answer calls, ake additional pictures or video if desired. Its hard buying a vehicle unseen. I prefer you know what you are getting so the transaction is a smooth one with no surprises. Exchange cash/title in person when picking up or open to wire transfer if shipping.
