Restoration Receipts SELLER REMARKS If you've been wanting an early Mustang convertible. we're going to urge you to buy one soon. Prices are most definitely on the move and after years of being affordable cars. Mustangs like this 1965 ragtop are steadily pushing northwards in the price department. This one offers all the right equipment. including a 289 cubic inch V8 and a great color combination. and we really don't expect it'll last very long on the showroom floor. Originally Rangoon Red. this one was restored in classic Wimbledon White and for an early Mustang. it's always a fantastic choice. It seems to accentuate the car's honest good looks and with just a hint of cream in the mix. it looks warm and inviting. not sterile and appliance-like. Good bodywork is always critical on a Mustang. whose unibody construction relies on strong bones underneath. Decent gaps and panel alignment make the car show well at local cruise nights and casual shows. and the chrome bumpers sparkle against the white paint. Other external details worth noting are the standard-looking taillights with LEDs inside. which are brighter than the standard taillights and there's a correct 1965 pony "corral" in the front grille. complete with cross bars. And on any early Mustang. the most important badge might be the little "289" emblem on the front fenders which all fans know to look for. The two-tone blue and white Pony interior is classic Mustang at its best. Elegant and sophisticated. it brought an air of genuine style to the affordable pony car market. and with details like the woodgrained steering wheel and center console. the car has a definitely upscale vibe. The seat covers. carpets. and door panels were new when the car was restored and everything is still in great shape today. The gauges are GT-spec with a very cool early-style Rally Pac mounted on the steering column. The factory AM radio is still in the dash. but it isn't functioning so now might be a good time to invest in one of those modern systems that fits in the original slot and allows you to use your iPod. Or not. because the Mustang's exhaust note is probably entertaining enough all by itself. Overhead there's a white power convertible top and the trunk is correctly outfitted with a plaid mat and spare tire assembly with cover. As you surely know. there's no way to determine matching-numbers on an early Mustang. but the engine is a correct C-code 289 cubic inch V8. Dressed in black engine enamel with gold tinwork. it has a correct overall look and you can see that recent work includes a new water pump and a Borgeson power steering system. which should be mandatory on every old Mustang simply because it totally transforms steering feel. Dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers give it a burly. fun-loving exhaust note and the C4 3-speed automatic transmission is always ready to serve up a downshift to scoot through traffic. Front disc brakes. a durable 8-inch rear with 3. 50 gears inside. and slightly oversized radials on styled steel wheels all add up to a Mustang that's a pleasure to drive. Don't say we didn't warn you. We sell a lot of early Mustangs and prices are definitely on the move. Grab a charming early Mustang and find out what the world's been talking about for fifty years.
