Description of 1962 Ford Falcon |
The falcon came to us by a guy that was soon to be the Secretary of Defense for President Kennedy! His name was Robert McNamara. The father of the Ford Falcon. Later he and Lee Iacocca would develop a little personal sports car known forever as the Mustang. It's roots began with the Falcon. Now to this car. It has a VERY low reserve! This little falcon has undergone an extensive rebuild with the addition of much needed "modern style" front and rear suspension components. The insideof the engine bay on the falcons was cramped at bes, so why not remove the intrusive shock towers and double the room under the hood? Well when you spend $4500.00 for a complete front end assembly you can. That is what has taken place. Then the standard rear suspension was removed and a double rear leaf spring was installed and a semi 4 link system was installed with a bullet proof 9 inch Ford housing and a 356 gear in it. In addition it has had a nicely built 351-C powertrain that is balanced and as a whole done right. The transmission isarebuilt FMX 3 speed automatic to complete the powertrain. This car is running on approximately 425 H.P. on pump gas and does well. She drives VERY WELL and has no issues. It is a pleasure to drive. It handles well and will even go around corners to your liking. It is COMPLETELY different than when it was born. I would assume that this car would fall into the "pro street" class if you had to name it. All over the modifications were performed with the upmost skill and it has endured the build for a decade now and is still in wonderful condition. The interior was done in a red vinyl and ye, not really my style, ooks good and sits well too. As far as stoppin, that's done with front disc and rear drum brakes and it stops well. Although you might think that to put this much engine in such a small car it would be a beast, ut it is not. Don't get me wrong, hen you stand on the gas and tell her to go, he hits 6 grand on the tach in a heartbeat and then shifts and does NOTHING but pull, nd pull hard! The car tracks straight as a string and just pulls! In my PERSONAL opinion I believe this car could stand aless restrictiveflowing exhaust system and a MUCH larger carburetor. These engines are high revving and can use the extra room to breath to really make them scream. I am a restorer by trade and a FORD guy at heart. I have built DOZENS of "Cleveland" motors and an 850 CFM carb and long tube headers with 3 in exhaust really helps them. As it stands you won't be disappointed. Feel free to call with any questions. Sorry, ut this is for real. It is all that I do all the time. This is my living and I don't have time for games. These cars belong to me, 'm not selling for a friend or have them on CONSIGNMENT!!! I make the decision to sell or not to. I drive them all and we "finish up" what ever we need to here in my shops. This car is a pretty nic, inexpensive way to enter the OLD CAR SCENE in something that hauls ass! On Sep-27-15 at 12:15:19 PDT, eller added the following information:Sorry to be so slow for adding pictures under the car. It is fine. Just dirty no rust issues anywhere anytime! This is NOT a rust bucket. It is a dry central Texas car. |
