Description of 1962 Ford Thunderbird Coupe Hardtop |
No Reserve -Nice1962 Ford Thunderbird Landau Edition 67k, 90 "z code" V8. Options includeunique Thunderbird "Swing-Away" steering wheel, inyl Landau top, power steering and power brakes. Thunderbirds from this era are steadily climbing in value, specially the 1961 through 1963 body styles. This is from Hagerty.com: "Ford followed up the Squarebird's three-year stint with the restyled "Roundbird" or "Bullet Bird" from 1961 to 1963. Technical highlights included an even bigger engine as Dearborn's FE V-8 was enlarged to 390 cubic inches in '61. New for 1962 was the optional "Z-code" 390. The special edition vinyl "Landau Top" accented the sleek body lines even further. These second generation 61-63 'Birds are steadily climbing in value, nd the ahead-of-its-time style is finally being appreciated." Mechanical: the Bird has always had regular maintenance have been performed on schedule. I was told the motor has about 30k on it, t having been rebuilt by the in the late 90's as well as a transmission rebuild. The AM radio is intermittent and theclock does not work. The gas gauge and horn work, s do the wipers and lights. The car has recently been gone through mechanically and runs and drives well. The swing-away steering wheel works. A common issue with Thunderbirds with the swing-away steering wheel is the shifter needs to be in neutral to start the engine. Ebay sells a kit to repair the neutral safety switch on these cars, t's a fairly simple repair. I would always just start her in neutral. All crank windows work easily. No leaks from anywhere, arage floor always dry when I pull her out. Cosmetic: The car was paintedaboutfour years ago, t'a nice and shiny. The body and underside are clean, he car has always been garaged. New carpet in classic "loop" style and the seats were reupholstered when the car was painted. Dash and tops of door panels have some sun cracking but otherwise the interior is complete, ncluding all console parts including compartment doors. The chrome and brightwork are all in good driver shape, ome pitting and dulling in spots. I am including brand new NOS vinyl top as well as a headliner, ll still boxed up. All floors, runk and frame are solid, ever repaired.Overall she's very straight as you can see in the pix, ll the door close easily as well as the trunk and hood. The Bird starts right up even after sitting and the engine has a nice rumble through the dual exhaust. Runs very strong, he 390 V8 is a pleasure on the highway. She idles evenly, emperature needle never varies, hifts smoothly, racks straight and stops easily. A very dependable Thunderbird that's fun to take to car shows and can be used as a daily driver. I had planned on installing the new vinyl top and headliner but I must sell due to finances. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, ost of shipping to paid by buyer. I can recommend a door to door auto shipper I've used in the past; they're professional, eliable and have great rates. Once again, his is a NO RESERVE auction, op bid wins the Thunderbird. Classic, porty 60's FordRoadsterwhich will only appreciate in value. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1929 Mercedes Gazelle Replica Convertible, actory Built in 1988 I'm considering selling another one of my classics, 1929 Mercedes Gazelle SSK Replica. Not a kit, t was factory built by Gazelle in 1988. Built on a Ford platform, t originally had a Ford drivetrain. It now has a professionally installed 1990 Nissan 240sx fuel injected 2.4 overhead cam engine and a 5 speed transmission, nder 30k on drivetrain. The ECM (computer that controls the engine) is mounted under the dash and a modern blade fuse box installed under the hood. When the swap was done the engine got a high output electric fuel pump and the cooling system got a heavy duty electric fan. The fuel injected engine always starts right up with the turn of the key, o gas pedal necessary. When Nissan engine was installed it got a new timing belt, ew injectors, ater pump and valvecovergaskets. When my mechanic first saw the car he was impressed by the level of skill and that went into the engine andtransmissionswap, s some parts needed fabrication to do it right. Recent work includes complete brakesystemgone through, uspension (leaf springs, YB shocks, ll bushings, ack and pinion), xhaust, lternator and radiator. I have put considerable time and money into this car, t's a unique little hot rod. Before buying this one I test drove several Gazelle Replicas with both the VW and Ford motors andthis one leaves them in the dust, robably the fastest Gazelle replica out there. The fuel injected Nissan engine starts easily and runs smooth and quiet, o leaks or noises from anywhere. Full canvas top, oor canvas and side windows as well as the top down, uick zip up cover. Wood inlay dashboard and vintage style gauges, omplete with nice Pioneer Ipod ready stereo. Always garage kept. Rare, erformance oriented Gazelle open to best offer over $6000.
