Description of 1973 Ford Mustang MACH 1 |
|
Thank you for viewing my1973 Mustang Mach 1, -code witha 351 Cobra Jet (though in 1973 Ford didn't advertise it as such) under the hood and 28,370 original miles on the odometer. The Cobra Jet powerplant was annice option in 1973 and if you are looking for afire-breathing, orquey, monster machine from the FMC, hen this isthe one for you. Because I will tell you this, f you haven'tdriven a CobraJet Mach, hen you have truly missed out! It is something special. This Mustang has agreat history, ith the gentleman I purchasedit from having owned it for more than a decade and the original owner still being active in the Mustang hobby!I've had the pleasure of getting this Mach 1 out on the road quite a bit this summer and it is really a deep-pedaled beast second to none! It runs and drives just as its low mileage would suggest, nd it has anabsolutely stunning look that everyone appreciates. It comes withsome very nicedocumentation that includes the owners manual, uild tag, riginal warranty card, eluxe Marti report, indow sticker and even a repair bill from 2008 showing 27,801 miles. The previous owner took it to shows and did some sunny day driving, ut otherwise he stored it with the love and care this fine Mustang deserves, nd its spectacular condition is the result. ** I just wanted to add a very nice update on the history of this car.I received a call from the son of the original owner! The original owner is still alive and active in Mustangs, nd they are all very happy to see that his beloved Mach is still around and in beautiful condition. The son told me that his dad owned the car for 27 years and that the mileage is true and correct. The only change he noticed in my photos was the addition of the magnum wheels on BFG's but when I told him that the original wheels and tires were stacked nicely in my garage, e forgave me for making this change:). During the conversation we were able to flesh out essentially the entire ownership history of this great Mustang, nd he told me he hopes the car goes to an appreciative owner as it holds a real place in his heart. Car guys know how that feels, e've all got a car or two that is way more than just a car. I will definitely pass along hisname and number to the new owner so the history can remain unbroken and intact on this wonderful piece of Ford history.** *** UPDATE #2: After having spoken with the son of the original owner, oand behold the next day the original owner himself called me! He told me all about his history with the car, erified the mileage as true and correct, nd even worked with me to establish an unbroken chain of ownership from day 1 until today. What a treat! He added that he had hardened valve seats and stainless steel valves installed so she'll run on unleaded fuel with no issues, hich is a greatupgrade. He also added that the car has never been restored, ll the sheet metal is original, nd the interior isas original as the day he took possession. The 351 CJ package was the optionhe ordered special! He asked me topass along his info to the nextownersothat he could answer any questions on the car's first 27 years for you. *** This Mach 1 has somereally great features. It has a working tachometer, he very desirable fold-down rear seat, agnum wheelswrappedin newBFG Radial TA's, ord's Gold Glow Metallic paint, ear window louvers and deck spoiler. But the 351 CJ motor is the big option: very desirable and whatan awesome feeling when you get into the pedal! The interior is spectacular, ll the gauges work and are clear and beautiful. The carpet is incredible and eventhe Mustang floor mats are flawless. The undercarriage is beautiful and rust-free and just as stunning as the rest of thisgreat example of an icon. This is an awesome Mustang Mach 1 in every way. Here's a link to many, any more photos of this beautiful Mach: https://flickr.com/photos/97286492@N06/sets/72157655365821121 And here's a video of me taking it to the street: http://youtu.be/0L39VeAbl4c I have owned and collected classic cars for the last 26 years, eginning with the 1969 Dodge Charger I bought when I was sixteen, nd which I still own today. I still own my 2nd car as well, 1983 Pontiac Trans Am, hich I drove from my senior year in high school through to my second year of graduate school in the department of English at the University of Central Florida in Winter Park, L. So my passion for classic cars -- and especially Mopars -- has been a lifelong pursuit and is about the most fun I can imagine having. I am an Oxford-educated motorhead that's been car crazy since bell bottoms were in style the first time around. And because I love to find, wn, rive and collect all kinds of classic cars, here comes a point when I have to sell a few of them to keep my collection manageable, r else they all don't get exercised like they should. This is one of those times. My collection has expanded to about20 cars, hen really, f I am totally honest with myself, should get it down to about twelve so that I have the time to drive and enjoy them all. I am a firm believer that cars should and need to be driven. And when I can't drive them all enough, go through the painful process of letting a few of them go on to new owners that will hopefully get out there and drive them more than I have time to.Before its all said and done, here will be about seven up and available. Please contact me with any questionsyou may have. I'm also open to trades if you have an interesting classic car. There is no question in my mind you are going to have the time of your life in this Mach, ecause what's the best hobby in the world by far...? That's right, he classic car hobby. This vehicle is being sold as is, ith no warranty, xpressed written or implied.
