This is a one-of-a-kind historic classic truck and trailer built by inmates of the Missouri State Penitentiary. It was a prototype restoration to assess the inmates ability to restore a classic vehicle from the ground up. This 56 Ford was built by individuals that wanted to prove that their skills and capabilities were equal to those of the private sector. They were given the challenge and opportunity to turn this truck into a street rod, nd this was the result. The metalwork was done at the Moberly Correctional Center. The door panels, eadliner and upholstery were done at the Missouri Eastern Correctional Center. The light oak bed boards of the truck and trailer were produced at the Jefferson City Correctional Center. After this truck was completed, prison industry devoted to classic vehicle restorations was opened. There is original airbrushed inmate artwork and metalwork inside and outside the vehicle. Some technical features of the truck are: The frame was fully sandblasted and boxed. New motor mounts were designed to hold the Chevy 400 small block. The Volare front clip was completely rebuilt. All rust on the cab and body was sand-blasted away and replaced with 16 gauge steel. There is no filler on the truck. The tilt front end has hydraulic assist from a Mustang convertible top hydraulic system. The mufflers are stainless steel. The dashboard has Dakota Digital gauges along with a wiring harness from Sacramento Ford. The steering column is from Iditit, nd the steering wheel is mahogany. All new rubber and carpet was ordered from Mid Fifty F-100 Parts. The cab has air-conditioning, CD player, ower windows, nd 3-point safety belts from Juliano's Interior Products. As parts were used from other Ford trucks, he custom trailer was made by using leftovers. The inmates were told to "make a trailer using your imagination." This is what they came up with using the front end of a '54 Ford F-100.Included with both the truck and trailer are heavy black vinyl bras to protect the paint from insects and the elements. There is also a fiber/cloth dust cover for the truck that we used while it was being stored. Included also are stainless-steel door props for displaying the interior of the vehicle.I have photos of the truck's transformation from rough daily-driver, o show-quality street machine. You can contact me, ill Gooch, etired Administrator of Correctional Industries, o answer any other questions about the truck and trailer.
