It was based on the Ford Model T, ut with a heavier frame and rear axle, iving it a rating of 1 short ton. When first produced in 1917, he Model TT was sold as a chassis with the buyer supplying a body. Starting in 1924, he truck was available with a factory-produced body. In 1925, hand operated windshield wiper was added The rear axle of the TT had a worm drive and crown whee, nlike the Model T's crown wheel and pinion. The worm was located at the end of the drive shaft and above the crown wheel. The wheelbase of the Model TT was 125 inches (320 cm), ompared to 100 inches (250 cm) for the Model T. It was often equipped with an accessory gearbox, uch as the Ruxtell or Jumbo gearboxes, hich allowed the truck to have intermediate gears between low and high, seful for hill climbing. The Model TT was very durable for the time, ut slow when compared to other trucks. With standard gearing, speed of not more than 15 mph was recommended, nd with special gearing, speed of not more than 22 mph was recommended. Standard worm gear ratio was 7.25:1, nd special gearing gave a ratio of 5.17:1. Because of this, ccessory catalogs offered items to help give the Model TT more power. It was replaced by the Ford Model AA truck in 1928 These Ford trucks are becoming almost impossible to find in such solid well kept condition...if you can find one at all!
