Not quite a collectable yet, ut if you need a rugged, eliable daily driver that can still put in a hard day's work and look great doing it, his 1987 Ford F150 pickup might be a smart choice. The two-tone paint job still looks smart, nd it features a host of comfort and convenience options that make it a pleasure to drive every day.The two-tone green and tan paint job has been recently applied looks upscale and elegant, isguising the truck's working-class origins easily. On the other hand, 987 was just about the time that driving a pickup truck instead of a regular car became fashionable, ence the handsome paint job. Hailing from the south, hat means no rust or other issues hiding underneath, nd it appears that all the sheetmetal is original and unwrinkled by accidents. There are some signs of age, ut the care this truck has received over the years is evident everywhere you look. The bed features a set of tie-down hooks in the stake pockets and a heavy-duty rubber mat, o it's still quite useful as a truck with no worries about damage. Lots of bright trim accents the two-tone paint, nd it's all in good shape, lthough the grille appears to have been repainted at some point. The gorgeous tan XLT interior has been recently re-done, ith a reupholstered bench seat, actory door panels, nd even 1987-vintage rubber mats underfoot. The dash pad is in excellent condition and it has a much more upscale look than you'd expect for a truck of this vintage. It offers factory A/C, hich is always a nice find, s well as a full array of gauges for the driver, ncluding a tachometer. The modern AM/FM/CD stereo in the center of the dash isn't original, f course, ut it's surely an upgrade over whatever was there originally. And the most appealing feature just might be that shifter on the floor, hich makes this thing feel like a big Mustang rather than a utility vehicle. With an interior like this, an't you see yourself hitting the road on a nice day in your new Ford?Ford's rugged, eliable, nd eminently famous 5.0 liter V8 lives under that new hood, nd while it doesn't have the same high-performance personality as its Mustang cousins, t remains a torque factory that moves the pickup with authority. Thanks to that long-runner intake, t hauls loads without straining and still hustles with urgency when the need arises. Someone took exceptional care of it, oo; just look how clean it is! All the original equipment is there, ncluding things like the AIR injection pump, actory A/C compressor, nd those two long intake pipes running to the throttle body. It's linked to a 4-speed manual transmission, o it's a lot of fun to drive, egardless of what you're doing. The chassis may show its age a bit, ut there are no signs of trouble, o rust, nd a recent exhaust system with a snarky Flowmaster muffler and twin tailpipes. 15-inch alloy wheels and 235/75/15 Yokohama radials round out the clean, lassy look.Too nice to be a simple work truck, nd perhaps someday these trucks will capture collectors' hearts.
